Laziness, now that’s not a good word. Nobody ever wants to hear that they are lazy. The reality is, it can be easy to fall into the trap of being so.
Unfortunately, laziness can be a lifestyle. Once someone falls into living a lazy lifestyle, it’s difficult to overcome. As much as you do not want to hear it, I believe I am speaking to some people today. The question is, “Do you stop reading this message right here, or do you make a decision that you need some positive tips on how to overcome laziness?” My prayer is that you are still reading this.
Perhaps, you are living a well disciplined life and you do not want to fall into this trap, this can apply to you as well. Here are some areas I would like to share with you on how to overcome laziness.
1) Break down a big task into smaller tasks.
We can all look at a big giant goal or a large task that we would like to accomplish and then because it is too big, we never start. In order to accomplish such a goal, start by setting small goals as you are working your way to achieving the big one. It is like looking at a tall staircase and instead of focusing on the top of that staircase, you simply focus on the first step. Once you’ve gotten to the first step, focus on the next step and do this step-by-step until you reach the top.
2) Get the proper amount of rest, sleep, and exercise.
Many people ask me with my busy schedule if I ever sleep. Actually, I get the perfect amount that I need. I’m in bed by 8:30 PM and I wake up at 4:00 AM. I found that I need seven hours of good sleep to be fully productive. On the weekends, I enjoy a short power nap every now and then also. Find out exactly what you need when it comes to sleeping in order for you to be super productive.
Exercise is also important to keep your energy level up. All of you who know me, have heard that I exercise and walk every single day. I start my morning off by doing that and it has most definitely risen my energy level.
3) Have a clear goal of what success looks like to you.
Most people are lazy because they have no vision. They don’t even know what they want to accomplish. Unfortunately, they have lost their purpose. Write out exactly what you would like to accomplish this week, this month, and this year. Have it clearly written out and be very specific. This is your purpose. This is why you get up early in the morning to go out and make it happen.
4) Get excited about your future self.
It’s time to start thinking about the wonderful changes that are going to be happening in your life because of your commitment. Visualize the car that you are going to be driving, the home you’re going to be living in, your bank account growing, the scores of people you will be blessing. Don’t stay where you are. It’s time to grow. It’s time to get excited about the future you.
5). Build some positive momentum.
I have seen people within our organization, along with others working in many different fields, that simply lose their purpose. They stop working consistently and they lose their momentum and their confidence. Sadly, it eventually gets to the point in which not working becomes the norm.
Anything involving success requires momentum. Within our industry, it’s amazing that when you work a consistent schedule and you apply yourself, positive things happen. Once you lose momentum, it’s difficult to get it back. I do want to stress that you will get it back. You just have to grind through a difficult time and then all of a sudden the Mojo is back. The key is to never stop and to keep going. Don’t look back. Life is too short not to give your very best. Reach your potential and have a super fantastic life!
6) Learn from the successful people.
Be careful who you are getting your advice from. People who are not in life where you want to be cannot show you how to get there. Be careful who you are hanging around with. You become a product of your own environment. If you hang around with lazy people, there is a strong possibility that you will become lazy as well.
Find the people who are in life where you want to be and find out about their schedules. You will find that they are very disciplined, they have a routine, and they never fly by the seat of their pants. They are excellent planners and are very goal oriented. These are the type of people you need to be hanging around with. Learn from the best and be the best.
Success takes effort, consistency, persistence, and it takes discipline. Work on these areas, keep improving, and make the decision to accomplish your goals. Now is your time!
Blessings and success.
