Do you feel as though your home is not worth enough right now? If you were to put this property on the market, do you think you would make the amount needed for you to have made a proper profit?

If this is the case for you, then you need to start making some changes. The good news is, we’re here to help. Down below, we’re going to take a look into the different options you have available when it comes to upping your home’s value, and how each decision is going to impact this. If you would like to find out more, please continue reading.

Add A Splash Of Color

Have you considered adding a splash of color? We know that generally when you’re selling a home the advice is to go for whites and off whites, which is generally a good suggestion. It makes the rooms look larger and brighter, which makes them more appealing to those visiting.

However, it might be true that you simply don’t have any color in the property, and that could end up going against you if you’re not careful. If you’re trying to up the value of the property, then you’re trying to boost its desirability, which color can help with. A dark grey living room, a coal blue bathroom, and a sage green kitchen is going to be the perfect combination.

Recent studies have shown that bland is not the way to go anymore, many potential buyers want something more.

Change Your Floors

Have you given much thought to your floors? If your floor looks like it could do with a new one anyway, then this is something you need to think about. Your value is not going to be as high if your floors look like they’ve been worn to heaven and all the way back.

As such, you should think about changing them. If you currently have carpet, we can’t recommend hardwood enough for most homes. However, if you have young children and you’re worried about them falling, perhaps something soft is going to be better.

For value purposes though, hardwood flooring is the best.

Fix The Garden

Are you tired of looking outside and seeing a mess or something you don’t want to deal with? If so, then you need to start fixing the garden. It’s going to be a task and a half to make this happen if you’ve neglected it for all this time, but we promise that it can be done.

To start, you will need to complete the general garden maintenance which includes mowing the lawn, watering plants, pulling out weeds, and so much more.

Once you have done this, that’s when you can up the ante. Add something great like a play area or an outdoor kitchen space. If you take the time and save up to get astroturfing, then you also won’ t have to worry much about maintenance, as this is super easy to keep clean. You just spray it down with a hose every now and then, and you’re good to go.

Increase Storage

Something else you might want to do, to make your life a little easier, is increase your storage options. This can be incredibly frustrating when you live in a home with very little storage, as you constantly feel like there is clutter everywhere. You may not know this but you can practically get away with putting storage anywhere, even built-in units you may not know exist.

For instance, under your stairs may look like a simple cabinet hiding a load of shoes and coats. However, in actuality, it’s a pull-out space which offers you more room for these shoes. If you have always wanted a downstairs toilet then you could do this as well, depending on where your stairs are located.

Add A Pool

How about you blow that value out of the water with a pool? Living in a warmer climate could warrant building a pool that is built-in rather than blowing it up every summer. There are pros and cons so you will need to work these out, one of the biggest is the amount it costs to run. Don’t forget, it isn’t just the initial cost of the pool. You also need to fork out for running costs, maintenance, and cleaning. You can use a pool service for this rather than doing it yourself, but it may end up costing you slightly more.

Before you get your pool installed, ask around for the best company and go from there. You don’t want a shoddy job where the builders leave you with half a pool that you have already paid for.

Add Curb Appeal

Finally, how does the front of your home look from the outside? When you approach your property, do you get excited or do you dread it a bit? If you dread it then so does everyone else, and this won’t help sell your home when the time comes. Your curb appeal should entice people in, you want people passing by to stop and look with awe at your home.

It can be incredibly hard to achieve this, so you need to picture an end result of how you wish it looked. It might be that you add some warm lighting so you can see your way to the front door in the dark. You could also get a new front door and clean your windows. Clean windows make it seem like you have looked after your property, and this will always increase the asking price of your home.
