Be a Blessing this Holiday Season

As we are now officially in the Christmas season, it’s a perfect time to really reflect on all the blessings that we have. In life, it’s easy to focus on what we don’t have. If you woke up this morning and you are breathing, you are truly blessed. I want to encourage you to get into the habit starting today, to take a few moments and have gratitude time.

Make the decision to get up on the right side of the bed. The first thing you should do is smile and start giving thanks. Give thanks for your family, your friends, breath, the opportunities you have for success, etc. The list can go on and on. By doing this, you will find that you are bringing joy into your life.

During your reflection time, start to think of those who are less fortunate than you. Remember the brave men and women serving our country who are away from their families during this Christmastime. Remember their families also. There are many families, unfortunately, who will not be able to give presents to their children. Find a family and sponsor them. You don’t have to spend a lot of money. Just being able to do something is going to be a blessing not only for them but for yourself also. Be of good cheer wherever you go. Wish strangers a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.

I have learned through giving that being able to give is one of the best blessings I can receive. I have seen that the people who are takers, and never give anything, seem to be the most unhappy people who complain all the time. On the other end of the spectrum, those who give seem to be filled with joy. They take great excitement and happiness just by being able to give to others. Build a reputation of being a giver. What a great honor and compliment it would be that when someone describes you, they say you are super generous and always giving of your time and resources.

There is an amazing phrase I heard a while ago which is very profound. “Give to get to give.” It simply means that when you give, you become blessed and by being blessed, you get to give even more. I have found this to be absolutely true. Make sure your heart is in the right place when you are giving and watch the blessings come in. Make people’s day brighter just by having an encounter with you.

Be a true blessing this Christmas season.
