The George Sportsmen’s Lounge

The George Sportsmen’s Lounge—Vegas’s Newest Sports Lounge

The newest and most luxurious hot spot in town opened last week, Durango Casino. Part of Station Casinos, the biggest sports bar in Las Vegas, is The George Sportsmen’s Lounge.

There must be over 50 giant LED screens and televisions in two different rooms, enough that literally every single person can get a perfect view. The rooms are separated by huge windows, so one room is quiet while the other is monstrously loud. The center bar in one of the rooms has screens both outside and inside, so there is a perfect view of at least 4-5 games no matter where you sit. Beautiful décor and great service.

We went on Thursday night and had a fabulous dinner. The menus are on wooden boards, cleverly slipped in 4 corners. We ordered delicious shishito peppers and French onion soup as appetizers, as well as the highly spiced prawns. Scallops were the main course and were terrific served on a vegetable and rice medley. My steak was cooked to perfection.

The George is open 24/7, with varying menus. Breakfast or brunch starts out with plenty of omelets if one so desires. Lunch and dinner feature Philly cheesesteak eggrolls, short rib fries, honey chicken mac and cheese, mussels, a long list of flat breads, salads, and a prime rib Philly sandwich. There are luscious desserts to choose from too.

Every item was absolutely cooked to perfection. The manager, Nicholas Cangiano, came over to talk; he is fantastic at his job. All the dishes were large amounts and priced reasonably.

The hotel has 200 rooms and 2300 slots. We’ll be coming clear across town for a lot of the sports games as we were thoroughly impressed. You must try this place out.
