Flower Child All Organic Restaurant

FLOWER CHILD is a fantastic all-organic, local produce, and gluten-lite place to dine.  Sam Fox has over 50 restaurants in 16 states with 14 different concepts in dining.

Flower Child is located in eight cities, with many more coming soon.  There is nowhere in Las Vegas that features food such as this.  The restaurant is huge and airy, located across from Boca Park and next to North Italia.

Starters include crushed avocado toast with soft egg, avocado hummus with sweet corn and pumpkin seeds, organic kale and Vietnamese crunch salads, along with a skinny cobb salad to pick from.  My favorite was the Mediterranean quinoa with tabbouleh, cauliflower, cucumber, tomato, sweet pepper, pistachio, feta, harissa yogurt vinaigrette.  They then offer plates—one for $4, two for $7, and three to sample for $9.  Take your pick from grilled asparagus, Sichuan green beans, smashed organic potato, sautéed spinach, Japanese eggplant, Indian spiced cauliflower, sweet corn, and quinoa or gluten-free mac & cheese.  All perfectly done and allowing you to add chicken, salmon, or steak.  They serve up big bowls of Thai cashew quinoa; Vegas poke with marinated beet, avocado, pickled mushrooms, cucumber, and brown rice; and a Mother Earth bowl with all the ancient grains, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli pesto, and hemp seed; or Forbidden Rice with black pearl, red japonica, snap peas, and bok choy.  Again, you can add proteins.  Four wraps, featuring Flying Avocado with smoked turkey, gouda, romaine, tomatoes, and hummus; Thai Dye with spicy tofu; The Rebel, grass-fed steak, charred onion, and horseradish yogurt; and Bird is the Word, with grilled chicken, broccoli, and cheeses.  On tap are cold brews, wine, and Kombucha tea, along with lemonade, and hot and cold teas.

Don’t forget all the vegan gluten-free desserts.  There are kid’s choices for $6.50.  You can also do a “pick a protein & 2 sides.”  The prices are right, the seating is both indoor and patio dining.

BOULDER CITY–SLEEPY LITTLE TOWN CLOSE TO LAS VEGAS

Let’s jump in our car and head out to Boulder City, just 30 minutes from our usual list of dining spots. After walking down Main Street and seeing numerous little antique and ice cream shops, there is a whole slew of new, unique, great dining places that have arisen over the last couple of years. I’ll start with my favorite, the Boulder Dam Brewing Company right next to the Chamber of Commerce and across from the Boulder Dam Hotel built in 1933, and a total vintage treasure filled with hundreds of pictures of history.

Back to Boulder Dam Brewing where a continual movie about building the dam plays inside. The video never fails to amaze me. There is plenty of history here with a courtyard filled with original shovels, dumpsters, and wagons all from building the dam. They are a brewing company and always have six different brews to pick from.

Boulder Dam Brewing has some of the largest sandwiches and wraps around, with delicious sweet potato fries or regular fries. The Greek salads are always a perfect choice, and the burgers are gigantic and juicy. I never leave without a take-out order for the next day. Great prices and good service along with music in the courtyard most nights.

Head down the street and you will find The Dillinger. Both historic and classic, they serve a mean beef brisket. Their smoky bacon burgers are one of the hottest items, with crinkle-cut sweet potato fries. There are Philly Cheesesteaks and onion rings, and a huge burger naturally called the Dillinger—perfectly messy!!!! Try a black bean burger or the jalapeno bacon cream cheeseburger. Be sure to order one level below what you want, as they cook them slightly more than I would expect. Lots of free parking and outside seating.  Located at 1224 Arizona St. Open from 11 to 10 p.m. 7 days a week.

Evan’s Old Town Grille right down the street at 1129 Arizona St serves Greek and Italian food. House wines run in the $5 range. Lamb Gyros with Greek salad and French Dips are extremely good. Surprise! They also serve T Bone steak with all the trimmings along with trout. Now that’s a varied menu.  It’s a pretty local hangout as service is good, and once again free parking—something we are fast losing in Las Vegas. I tried the stuffed shells on one occasion and was very happy. I’ve heard a couple of people refer to the bar as like the one in “Cheers”.  Evan, the owner, loves to chat if you’re open to hearing about Boulder City. 1-9 closed on Sunday and Monday.

Set Goals and Become a Winner

These past several days have been absolutely wonderful. As many of you know, we had a summer contest called the Norton nine contest. The top eight producers throughout the summer, along with the top revenue producer with a minimum of twenty merchants written, were able to enjoy four days of absolute fun and celebration.

On Thursday we had 20 of us in the cabana at the Jacksonville Jaguars game. It was a nationally televised game and we were able to enjoy a Jaguar win, so it kicked off the trip on a positive.

I came down on Friday and had lunch, as well as some wonderful time by the pool, at One Ocean Resort and Spa. Friday evening we had our celebration dinner, which was held at the Azurea Restaurant located right inside the hotel. The entire evening was a wonderful time of great fellowship and a fantastic dinner. There were toasts being made all throughout the evening and new, incredible friendships were being formed.

On Saturday morning, we had a delightful breakfast at the Norton household. What a great way to start the day! Immediately after that we headed over to the Serenata Beach Club for a day of fun, sun, lunch, and great fellowship. We were able to spend time at the beach and the pool. The day was absolutely phenomenal.

As I’m writing this, our representatives and their guests are heading back home with some wonderful memories and joy in their hearts.

Throughout the weekend, I was able to do short interviews with each one of our winners. You will find these on the RMS opportunity Facebook page. Every one of the representatives had an attitude of gratitude and they were all such a blessing to be around. In these interviews they were sharing their appreciation along with some of their secrets to success. The common theme that was heard from each of them was that there is no secret formula to success—just go to work each and every day with a good attitude and good things will happen.

For several of our representatives who were there this was their first rewards trip. What an exciting time, and it was awesome to celebrate with them! There were a few others who are consistent winners—no matter who it was, everyone had a blast. It was a great group of winners coming from all different backgrounds and from all areas around the country. Some have been here 6 months while others have been with RMS for 10 years.

Once you go on trips like these you never want to miss another one. You are surrounded with winners who are hitting high levels and plan on continuing to do great things.

Keep in mind, this business is not just about making money. Yes, the financial rewards are incredible but the other things that go with it make the journey even more joyful. Set some goals to become a high performer and a championship player.

We have just a few months remaining in this contest coming up for the Bahamas trip. It’s beautiful and it’s first class. Believe it and achieve it. We have plenty more incentives and rewards trips coming up, so choose to go for it and become a winner.

Wishing you all great success.

THE BOOZE DISTRICT

Where the Business of Spirits Meets the Spirit of Business.

Located only 15 minutes from the iconic Las Vegas Strip, The Booze District is an alliance of family-owned beverage manufacturers dedicated to connecting the community through the spirit of spirits. The first of its kind in the Southwest, guests may taste award-winning locally-inspired beer, wine and spirits, tour the facilities that craft them, or even participate in the activity of creation themselves. Home to Bad Beat Brewing, CraftHaus Brewery, Vegas Brewing Company, Grape Expectations – Nevada School of Winemaking and Las Vegas Distillery, The Booze District is dedicated to the culture of crafting libations locally, and enjoying them together!  I had four of these fine establishments give us a talk about what it took to open their establishments, the business of their spirits, and the new tour.

LAS VEGAS DISTILLERY: The first artisan craft distillery in the State of Nevada. Founded by George Racz, the family’s love and passion for their craft are contagious. Beyond the delicious and expertly crafted booze, the Las Vegas Distillery will serve you joy in abundance. Come feel the steam heartbeat of the two beautiful pot stills, “The Las Vegas Copper Angels”, smell the fresh ambrosia of the fermented mash and listen to the peaceful breaths of the sleeping barrels. At Las Vegas Distillery, you may arrive as a guest, but you will leave as a friend for a lifetime. George passed away last year, but his lovely wife Katalin continues to run the place.

BAD BEAT BREWING:  Founded on a whim and funded by a home mortgage, Bad Beat Brewing has been all about one thing, a hardcore passion for beer. The first brewery to relocate to The Booze District, Bad Beat started in 2002 and now crafts an assortment of locally inspired beers that is sure to please any palate.

CRAFTHAUS: Dave Forrest is the owner and founder. CraftHaus Brewery is a community-focused brewery that produces artisanal beers infused with friendship. Their dedication to offering quality beer in a comfortable setting is only surpassed by their passion for sharing their love of the craft. Crafthaus has opened its 2nd establishment downtown Las Vegas at 197 East California Street with the name Crafthouse Arts District.  It’s a must-try.

GRAPE EXPECTATIONS: “Where u make a da wine one barrel at a time.” Grape Expectations is a private client winery and school where individuals, groups, companies, and institutions will learn to make a barrel of wine from stomping to bottling. Our full-service winery produces single varietals and blends from hand-picked California North Coast and Chilean grapes, and our experts will ensure that your personal label is as delicious as it is precious.

SPOTTED: DISCOVERY ON THE RUNWAY

“Clothes mean nothing until someone lives in them.” — Marc Jacobs

The dream of every model is to get discovered but have you ever wondered how some models actually get discovered?

Becoming a model can be daunting. Even when you have the right looks, getting discovered is often challenging; it takes perseverance, discipline, and an unwavering commitment but most importantly, the right contacts. It’s not always about being the most beautiful, it takes someone who sees the uniqueness in you and is willing to invest their time and energy in you to unlock your potential.

Typically, each model’s road to discovery is a different journey but for Megan McNierney, Achenrin Madit, Aviana McClish, and Esscence Taylor, their modeling career started out the same thanks to Berny Martin, a well-regarded fashion designer, founder, and owner of Catou, a clothing brand. Mr. Martin was the first fashion designer to have these now famous and highly successful models on the runway, his runway, in his designs.

Edgy and elegant, flirty and sophisticated, Catou clothing makes a bold statement and has been recognized on BET, MTV and in dozens of big magazines worldwide. Drawing from his background, travel experiences, as well as his studies in college and at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York (FIT), Mr. Martin designs with creativity that extends beyond conventional fashion to offer a distinct look. He creates his pieces with the consumer in mind, paying close attention to detail in order to guarantee well-made clothing that complements its wearer with a sophisticated, timeless fashion. Working in tandem with Mr. Martin is modeling coach, Pilar Ammons, Model Scout and Runway Coach of Simply Pilar Modeling. A day in the life of a modeling coach comes with a great deal of responsibility; to prepare aspiring models for the runway with personalized coaching and extensive training that will teach them confidence and professionalism. Behind the scenes, models are provided all the fundamentals and taught skills on how to walk the runway with poise, perfect posture and controlled facial expressions. They are taught the importance of creating a high-quality portfolio, maintaining their physical appearance by eating healthy and adapting to a regular exercise program; they attend hair and makeup classes and the list goes on and on. A runway coach’s job is demanding, intense and unbelievably rewarding. Ms. Ammons is in charge of coaching the models who come to the Catou auditions. Mr. Martin and Ms. Ammons offer these models free modeling classes and runway classes. If Ms. Ammons sees something unique in those models, she offers them a dream come true. They are given an opportunity to walk the runways in New York City and some go on to Milan, Paris, London and other big fashion cities around the globe.

Twice each year, Mr. Martin hosts an event called Midwest Fashion Week, and for each event in every city where their fashion show is held, he holds open auditions for potential models. The goal of the open audition is to give an opportunity to young models, especially those with little to no experience, a chance of a lifetime to be part of a professional runway fashion show.

Through his open auditions, Mr. Martin discovered Aviana McClish, Essence Taylor, Megan McNierney and Achenrin Madit who have walked in his designs on the runway in both Chicago and Indianapolis. Other Midwest models that started their career on the stage of Midwest Fashion Week include Tyrie Rudolph, Ashely Chew, and Amanda Pfingston just to mention but a few. These models have all gone on to have highly successful careers making their mark in the fashion industry!

Bill Porter & Adam Smith hit London’s Fashion Week in Catou

Indianapolis, IN, September 19, 2019 – Berny Martin founder of Catou Fashion, a sought-after international designer was extremely proud that garments from his couture collection were worn during London Fashion Week by the quintessential mavericks of fashion, Bill Porter and his life-partner Adam Smith.

Martin’s designs created that “Ooh and Ahh” effect within the UK, that has catapulted worldwide recognition, possibly as the next Lagerfeld or Tom Ford.

With just enough time to catch their breath, within 48 hours the dynamic duo were at Martin’s showroom in New York choosing designs that captured London Fashion Week, with changing outfits in under 48 hours, Bill and Adam chose from Martin’s showroom in New York, several designs that captured their style and magnetic personality. Bill stunned the audience in a yellow full-length dazzling satin jumper that one might see on the cover of GQ.  The jewelry adorned his neck like an exhibition from the Metropolitan museum with a jumper from Martin’s previous spring collections.  Women’s Wear Daily hailed the jumper as the new “must-have” signature piece for every well-dressed gentleman’s wardrobe.

Selecting designs from Catou’s newest fall collection 2019 brought to life Bill’s black and white look with a Catou flattering form-fitting four-color wool jacket.  Adam opted for a chic wool-padded leather suit that graced his body to perfection. Together, they added the glitter and glitz that is synonymous with the London Fashion Week. Wearing Catou designs during these unforgettable appearances has added new dimensions of their alluring style and individual taste.

Catou’s extravagant designs certainly have made an impact across the pond and much talked about beyond London’s fashion week, a pivotal moment for the designer.

Catou Fashion House was founded in 2002 by Berny Martin, who came to the USA from Haiti as a young, creative and ambitious designer. His determination paid off as evidenced by the high-profile clientele he has established over the past 15 years. In 2005 he produced the first “Midwest Fashion Week” to showcase the taste and talent of the Corn Belt region of America to the world-renowned fashion weeks in NYC, LA, Paris or Milan.

The genius of Martin’s style appeals to both men and women.  His evolving creativity has laid the foundation for his signature designs sought after by the major fashion shows around the world popularity with high profiled individuals and celebrities. Martin’s new collection has already begun to gain recognition for his uber couture line.

Berny Martin states “I want to bring flair and comfort to my designs without losing the elegance and sophistication. It is important to understand how fashion is constantly changing and evolving with fabric and lifestyle.”

The Importance of Decluttering Your Home

Our home environment can affect us in many ways, from influencing our mood and behaviour to having an impact on our energy and productivity levels. You may have heard the saying, ‘tidy house, tidy mind,’ which makes reference to how a cluttered environment can impact our clarity of mind, and our ability to organise our thoughts and even our lives. This article will look at the importance of decluttering and organising our home environment, and how this can contribute towards improving well-being and productivity.

Why You Should Declutter Your Home

Taking the time to declutter and organise your home environment can actually be considered as an important act of self-care; an action that we take to improve our health, happiness and well-being. While it may be a task that is considered unenjoyable or something that we put off, self-care can sometimes involve doing something we don’t want to do—knowing that it looks after our best interests in the long term. Like going to bed early when we feel like staying up, pushing yourself to exercise when you don’t feel like it, or even eating more healthily.

Clutter Adds to Stress

Having too much clutter can actually cause someone a lot of stress in a variety of different ways. For example, keeping on top of housework will likely take much more time, effort, and work in a cluttered environment. This could even lead to mould problems, especially if there is a lot of furniture or items packed in tightly together and up against the walls. This, combined with a lack of cleaning, could result in damp forming.

Excessive clutter can also lead to a buildup of dust which can adversely impact your health, as it can aggravate or worsen asthmatic symptoms. Decluttering your home will mean that you can breathe easier and you will feel physically better.

It Can Affect Your Happiness

It can also lead to a lot of lost time looking for things that you can’t find, which adds to stress. You may also feel less inclined to have guests over to your home due to feeling discontent about the state of your home. However, true to the saying mentioned in the introduction, if you clear up your space, you will clear up your mind. You will have more time, reduce stress, your productivity will improve, and you will take more pride in your home; meaning you can enjoy yourself more and have guests over.

Improved Focus

Clearing out the clutter will result in less of your mental capacity being taken up in trying to manage all the ‘stuff’ that you own. When your environment is not clear and organised, it can cause decision fatigue, as well as cause your mind to become distracted by all the clutter in your environment, which can hinder your ability to focus and concentrate.

More Peace and Happiness in Your Life

When your home is tidy, clearer and more organised, it’ll be much easier to keep on top of. You will be able to relax and enjoy your home more, leading to increased feelings of happiness and peace and more freedom to relax and focus on what’s important.
