How to Nurture Yourself During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is the most beautiful phase in a woman’s life and a unique journey. It’s also is the ideal time to practice self-care. To think about your baby, you first have to think about yourself — you have to be healthy to be able to bring that baby safely into this world.

Pregnancy is a time of reflection and time to try and change the way you live your life. Always be aware that your well-being is linked to your baby’s and that it’s crucial to stay healthy during the pregnancy.

That’s why nurturing and self-care are an important part of any pregnancy. Here are some ways that can help you nurture yourself during pregnancy.

  1. Be active

Just because you’re growing a human doesn’t mean that you can’t be active. Quite the contrary, being active and moving around during the pregnancy is highly recommended.

During the first part of pregnancy, you can keep exercising as long as you’re comfortable with it. 20 to 30 minutes of moderate exercise is recommended and you will reap the benefits later during your pregnancy and even after it.

As your pregnancy progresses it will be more difficult to do certain exercises, but you can still go on walks, swimming, do light stretching, yoga, and any low-impact activities. If you’re not sure what you’re allowed to do, consult with your OBGYN.

  1. Know when to take a pause

Self-care is knowing when to take a pause. Follow your body’s cues and whenever you feel like taking a break — take it — guilt-free. In the end, it takes a lot of energy to grow a baby.

If we’re being honest, the whole 9 months of your pregnancy should be a time to take things slowly and simply enjoy the state you’re in. So, don’t feel guilty if you don’t feel like doing things. During your pregnancy take things slowly, meditate, sleep, nap, read, paint — do whatever makes you feel happy and relaxed.

Take a seat, put those swollen ankles up, and take a breather whenever you feel like it — that’s self-care in its purest form.

  1. Pregnancy diet

During the pregnancy, creating a healthy eating plan is highly important. When pregnant you are eating for two and that’s why you need to focus on foods that give you higher amounts of nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, protein, fibre, carbs, iron, and healthy fats.

Create a healthy diet plan with nutritious pregnancy food — give your baby the right start to life. Eat dairy products, legumes, vegetables, lean meats and proteins, eggs, fish, whole grains, and so on. The more colourful your diet, the better. Good food, apart from helping your baby grow and develop in the right way, will also improve your mood.

However, during the pregnancy, your hunger levels will be all over the place. In order not to overindulge and gain unnecessary weight, eat the right kind of food — snack on healthy snacks such as nuts and dried fruit. If you crave sweets or junk food, it’s okay to eat some from time to time, but try to control your cravings.

  1. Clean up your skincare routine

Another thing that should change once you find out that you’re expecting is your skincare routine. The skincare products you’ve been using before pregnancy may not have been 100% safe and many of them are absorbed in your skin and your body.

When you’re pregnant everything that is absorbed into your body is also absorbed into your baby’s body — so you can see why cleaning up your skincare routine is necessary.

Try switching to products that are safe and that contain natural ingredients. Apart from that, you’ll notice that your skin will change during pregnancy — which is absolutely normal and yet another reason to change your skincare routine.

Taking care of your baby starts by taking care of yourself. This is why you should make sure that you take things slowly, and start thinking about yourself a bit more. Take a break, eat healthily, do what you love, and enjoy your pregnancy.

The Evolvolution team consists of experienced educators who deliver meaningful and creative course curriculums to students globally. The EI curriculum empowers individuals to thrive in today’s society which is beset with unforeseeable challenges that can be daunting. The initiative has several curriculums that focus on problem-solving and critical thinking to guide individuals towards a promising future.

“Yes, multicultural education is important, but in the face of the hateful violence being visited on so many of our students and communities, it is simply not enough,” Wayne Au writes in an article published in Multicultural Perspectives in 2017.

Company founders, Janol Mecca Holmes and Marc Hoberman recognize that negative experiences in a learning environment can manifest in problematic situations at work and at home.

The approach and learning experiences that are provided address the need for innovation within education. Diversity, cultural exchange, awareness, appreciation, and respect can be learned and used as a tool of evolution and success within an ever-changing society.

The Evolvolution Initiative continues to partner with educators, schools, parents, teachers, corporations, and organizations who have a genuine stake and interest in our future as a global society. The two have created a program where academic education and character education are connected.

“We meet people at their reality, and that resonates with all participants throughout the world,” said Hoberman. Holmes added that “Throughout our international work with people from the United Kingdom to the United States and beyond, we utilize education as a tool to revolutionize the globe.”

The Evolvolution Initiative means evolving, focusing, and adapting to positive changes in teaching and learning.

Get Inspired and Make Your Life Happen

Everyone goes through a phase in life where they might feel stuck or uninspired, it happens to us all from time to time. The good news is that you can get out of this slump. The first step is to start by setting a clear goal, and it’s important to be very specific.

Find inspiration from things in your life and learn to be open to it. You must clear your mind and get rid of all the things holding you back so you can take that inspiration and turn it into positive steps to meet your goal.

When it comes to inspiration, surrounding yourself with things that energize you and get you excited is a must. The bottom line is, you know what you love. Whatever it may be, make these things a part of your everyday life. They will energize you which will create the right mindset for being inspired. When you surround yourself with things that you love, you will feel happier which will make you much more positive about life. And having a positive outlook leads to inspiration.

How you begin your day is an important part of inspiration, so make the decision to get into a positive routine every morning. Whatever that may be; it could be exercising, going for a walk, quiet time, or listening to motivational videos. Having a good routine gives you something to look forward to which will inspire you.

Listening to music is good for inspiration as well. Good, positive music will put you in a better emotional state and help you relax. When you’re in a positive frame of mind, you will be much more receptive to new ideas that might be the perfect inspiration for any problem you may be working on.

I would also like to encourage you to spend time reading biographies of people who tell their stories of how they overcame obstacles and became successful. This will inspire you to go do it yourself. Reading can inspire you by providing fresh thoughts and ideas.

If you really want to get inspired and you have a goal about becoming successful, make a commitment to learn more about your industry. Spend time researching all the products and services. When it comes to the RMS opportunity, the amazing thing is that you can go as far as you want to go.

Find out exactly what it’s going to take to have great success. Visualize yourself becoming a champion and being at the top of the game. If you’d like to drive a certain type of vehicle or win a fantastic rewards trip, take photos and post them where you can see your goals every day. This will inspire you to go after your dreams.

Finally, choose to get inspired by other people. Find the people who are in life where you want to be and start reaching out to them. When you’re feeling stuck, reach out for some help. Get together with positive people and find out what makes them tick. It’s important to surround yourself with winners and positivity. You’ve heard the expression, “You become who you hang with.“ Is your circle of influence bringing you down or are they inspiring you to be the best that you can be? That is a tough question which may mean you might need to make some tough decisions. Make sure you are spending time with people who are encouraging and inspiring.

Life is short and life is amazing. You are designed for greatness and there are some wonderful things that you can accomplish. Get excited about accomplishing your goals and enjoying the good life, you deserve the very best. It’s time to get inspired and go make it happen.

Have a super fantastic week!

Two by Camus

Albert Camus (1913—1960) was one of the most distinguished writers of the twentieth century.  Almost everything he wrote is worth reading, but two works stand out for me: The Stranger and “The Adulterous Woman”.  Both are masterfully written; plus, they resemble one another in ways I find intriguing.

The Stranger (1942) concerns a young Frenchman who lives in Algiers.  The novel opens with the brief, arresting lines:

‘Mother died today.  Or, maybe, yesterday; I can’t be sure.’

The hero, Meursault, was obviously not close to his mother and is not sad over her death.  But he is willing to go along with the conventions that relate to death, like keeping vigil and attending the funeral.  Though generally compliant, he is also an oddly detached person.  Later, his apparent lack of feeling plays a role in the sentence he receives for murdering an Arab man.  It would seem that Meursault is to be executed for the crime itself; but the prosecution makes much of the fact that he didn’t grieve at his mother’s funeral.  This is the novel’s central “absurdity”, and the events culminate in an exultant rejection of religious faith.  There is nothing for Meursault in the end but ‘the benign indifference of the universe’ and the deranged hope of being jeered at by the crowds that attend his execution.

“The Adulterous Woman” is a short story in the collection titled, Exile and the Kingdom (1957).  Though not as bleak as The Stranger, it too culminates in an experience of negative mysticism; but it goes about it by a very different route.

The heroine, Janine, is with her husband on a business trip in the desert regions of northern Africa.  Her childless marriage to Marcel leaves much to be desired.  They have been together for a long time and an attachment of sorts exists between them, but there is little love.  One gathers that Janine is chronically bored, and feels within herself an unfulfilled need.  In short, she is ripe for an affair; and, as the title of the story indicates, an affair does occur, but not in the usual way.  Janine’s “adultery” does not involve a human lover, nor does it involve God.  Instead, she has a late-night rendezvous with the vast reaches of desert and sky, to which she opens herself completely:

‘Then, with unbearable gentleness, the water of night began to fill Janine, drowned the cold, rose gradually from the hidden core of her being and overflowed in wave after wave, rising up even to her mouth full of moans.’

Later, when Janine is reunited with her husband in the hotel room, he observes that she is weeping.  She says, “It’s nothing, dear, it’s nothing.”  But her words are more than a mere evasion; they are a confession of what she has actually experienced: nothingness.

Both of these pieces of fiction, and Camus’ work generally, constitute a bracing challenge to those of us who believe in God—not insurmountable but a challenge nevertheless.

7 Steps to Help You Stay Motivated

Motivation is what drives us to make things happen, but staying motivated is the key. Motivation is what moves us towards our goals. It gets you up early in the morning and keeps you working with determination even when things get tough.

I have found that there are many distractions which can get in the way of achieving your goals, this is why it’s important to stay focused. The road to success is always under construction, and there will always be obstacles and challenges. There will be days where you just don’t feel inspired. So the question is, how can you stay motivated?

Here are some steps to help you.

1) Write down your goals.

The first step is to develop a vision board and set some specific short and long-term goals. Have this out where you can see it daily. When you set a goal, you are making a decision to act in a way that will help you achieve the things you want. Goals give you a direction to focus on, this will help you stay motivated.

2) Have goals that you want.

You will find that you will be much more motivated if you are working towards something that you genuinely want to do rather than what other people want for you. Find your passion, you are gifted with talent. Find what your true gifts are and set goals in that area.

3) Tell other people about your goals.

This helps you to stay accountable. If you tell someone about your dreams and plans, you have basically made a promise and it’s important now that you keep your word. Make sure you are speaking to the people that want to see you succeed. These people will encourage you and they will be happy for your success.

4) Check your progress.

You may not have reached your big goal yet but look how far you have come. When you are working toward something, you will find that it will be really motivating if you can see evidence that you are making progress. On your vision board, draw something on there to show how you are getting closer to achieving the goal that you have set for yourself.

5) Break your big goal into small goals.

Every step you take is one step closer to achieving your main goal. For example, you may want to accomplish something big in the next five years. It’s important that you set some small goals for what you would like to accomplish this month or even what you would like to accomplish today. The progress that you make will keep you motivated towards achieving that big goal.

6) Celebrate your successes.

Remember, it can’t always be just about work. It’s important that when you accomplish something, you reward yourself. As a matter of fact, promise yourself some sort of reward every time you complete a small goal. Celebrate your victories and reward yourself.

7) Don’t be a Lone Ranger.

It’s also important that on your journey of success, you surround yourself with other winners. Get continued training, find a mentor or someone you can share your experiences with. Surround yourself with people that are rooting for you and are going to lift you up and encourage you. Other people’s encouragement will be a big boost to your motivation, especially when you are going through difficult times.

The bottom line is, in order to stay motivated you have to keep your eyes focused on THE WHY. Remember why you are doing what you are doing. Never forget that. Sometimes it may be difficult, but it certainly is worth it. Your future looks bright, stay positive and stay motivated.

Have a super fantastic week!
