The 3 Qualities of Top Salespeople

I often get asked why some people excel in sales while others may not get good results. It is an excellent question. Talent makes a difference, and there are certainly some key ingredients that successful salespeople seem to have. Good communication skills are very helpful along with strong eye contact, enthusiasm, positive attitude, firm handshake, and a great smile.

However, even though these ingredients are quite valuable, they are not nearly enough. Over the years, as a leader and trainer in direct selling, I have met hundreds of people that have all the necessary skills and personality to become great. I recall saying many times, “This guy is going to be a star,” and way too many times my prophecy fell short. On the other hand, I’ve seen countless others who may not have had all of the ingredients, but they surprised me and many others by achieving great success. Bottom line, talent alone is not enough.

Being a top performer in direct selling as well as a successful leader, I have found that the top sales performers possess these three qualities.

1)They are driven.

The top sales superstars are all very ambitious. They know what they want out of life. They never settle for mediocrity. They have high expectations for themselves. They have determination and will do whatever it takes to become successful. They all started out at the bottom, learned the business and worked their way up.

2) They have overcome their fears.

Sales Superstars have all experienced fear. The difference is they did not allow that to stop them. They have overcome their fears by simply taking action.

Unfortunately, many people stop dead in their tracks because of fear of failure or fear of rejection. The top sales performers understand that in order to have great success, they have to experience an incredible amount of failure. They have come to learn that failure is part of success.

In order to overcome fear, you have to welcome the word NO. When you adopt the philosophy that NO MEANS GO, then you will be on your way to being a top performer.

Set a goal to talk to as many people as you possibly can each day and try to get as many NOES as possible. By doing this, you will soon find you’ll be getting a lot of YESES also. Every NO is one step closer to the YES.

The top sales people welcome failure and understand that it helps them get closer to success. They are the biggest failures but most importantly, because of that, they are the biggest successes.

3) They are 100% committed.

I have done a lot of recruiting and training for new representatives getting into sales for many years. Whenever I hear somebody say “I’m going to give it a try.”  Immediately, I know that they are not going to make it in sales. The reason is as soon as something goes wrong, which it will, they give up because they are just giving it a try.

Success takes an unbelievable commitment. The top salespeople are committed to the cause, they are going to be successful no matter what. There are no other options. They don’t have anything to fall back on, this is it. They are not looking back and they are going to be successful because of their commitment.

As I look at the leaderboard consistently, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that every single one of our top performers possess all three of these qualities. They come from all different walks of life. Most of them you would not consider as natural salespeople—there is no such thing as a born salesperson. The top sales performers simply decide that they are going to be successful.

Let me encourage you to not just be average, life is too short. Make the decision to be a superstar. You have what it takes. You have an amazing opportunity staring at you right in your face, the rest is up to you. Are you ready?

Have a super fantastic week!

TRUE FOOD KITCHEN

TRUE FOOD- OMG! This new restaurant in Downtown Summerlin is truly amazing.

Taking over the old Fogo de Chau location, with plenty of outdoor patio dining, this fresh, amazing place offers an unlimited menu for anyone wanting to eat healthily. Inside is light and airy, plenty of green plants and great seating. The deck overlooks one of the waterfalls in the mall. For starters, I suggest the Butternut Squash Soup or the Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Mushrooms. There is also a great Beet & Goat Cheese Flatbread. All salads have seasonal ingredients as does the entire menu. Kale Cobb Chopped or Organic Tuscan Kale has plenty of avocado and organic tomatoes. There are pizzas, with gluten-free crust if you ask, along with Bowls of Ancient Grains. Bowls include Cauliflower Polenta, Korean Noodle, or Teriyaki Quinoa, with broccoli, carrots, bok choy, mushrooms, brown rice, avocado, and toasted sesame. Each item has a calorie value listed. A new burger is on the menu, Unbeetable Burger made with beets, yuzu, jicama slaw, crushed avocado, and butter lettuce. Bright red, juicy and certainly savory. Or try a turkey burger, grass-fed burger or an Inside Out Quinoa Burger with hummus.

Full-on entrees are Thai Coconut Sea Bass, Chicken, Lasagna, or a Poke Bowl with wild-caught albacore, a grilled Salmon bowl or Grass-fed Steak Tacos. Plenty of desserts too. The menu reflects with a small icon what the vegetable is. I cannot rave anymore about this health-conscious place.

10970 Rosemary Park Drive, #160. 702-863-1000. And when you are finished, there are hundreds of shops at Downtown Summerlin.

RED LOBSTER Family Chain Has a New Venue in Las Vegas.

Out of over 700 national locations, this new Red Lobster is only one of four with this new updated look and feel. Totally family-oriented with a whimsical feel, happy-go-lucky attitude, I love the new concept.

You are welcomed with lobster trap lights on the ceiling, a very unique touch. Plenty of seating and parking at this great location.  They have a new sampler tray with lobster pizza, mozzarella cheese sticks, and Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp.  Entrees now include a Maine lobster tail with jumbo shrimp skewers, and Atlantic salmon on a bed of rice with brown butter sauce.  There is a Cajun chicken linguini Alfredo, and a seaside Shrimp Trio with shrimp served on linguini. All served with a choice of side.  And then to-die-for Snow Crab legs, with snow-white crab meat. There are plenty of other dishes to choose from.  Key Lime pie is my preference for dessert along with a great drink from the bar.

It’s worth the drive to 1870 W. Craig Road in North Las Vegas. Open 7 days a week 11-10 p.m.

Be Your Best Supporter

Let’s face it, there is a lot of negativity in this world. Turn on the news and they will tell you all about it with a smile on their face. Some people thrive on negativity. It’s absolutely vital that you do not allow yourself to get caught up in it. This is why it’s important for you to be careful what you listen to on the radio and what you watch on TV. If you don’t think watching an hour of garbage TV affects you, then why do you think corporations spend billions of dollars on advertising for 30-second commercials? If 30 seconds can impact your mindset, imagine what one hour will do.

It’s also important to make sure that you surround yourself with the right people. Make sure that your inner circle and the people you hang around the most are going in life where you want to be. Your inner circle should be the most supportive and most encouraging. I’m talking about the people who celebrate your successes and who are also there for you when you are going through difficult times.

You will find as you are climbing the ladder of success that people may discourage or even be jealous of you. They may tell you that you are wasting your time and you’re not cut out for success. They may even try to make you not believe in yourself.

That is why it is important that you are your number one supporter. Be careful of the words you choose when you are talking about yourself. Eliminate any self-doubt or any negative self-talk. If you find that you have been doing this, today is a great day to start a new beginning with positive talk and self-belief. Here are three beginning-of-phrases that will help you.

I CAN

It all starts out with belief. Today is a new day with unlimited possibilities. Your future looks bright. The opportunity that you have in front of you is incredible. Nobody said it would be easy, but  I can tell you this, it is definitely worth it. Start by saying this, “I believe in myself. My opportunities are incredible. Nothing is going to get in my way. I CAN do this.”

I AM

What you say about yourself is very important. Stop putting yourself down, stop selling yourself short. Write down 10 positive things about who you are and look in the mirror and say them with conviction. I am awesome. I am a winner. I am blessed. I am a child of God. I am going to make it happen. I am designed for greatness. I am super fantastic. I am a leader. I am unstoppable. I am #1.

I WILL

It is time to decide to make a 100% commitment. Procrastination is the thief of all time. Make the decision to start your incredible success journey today and stop putting things off. Do it now, life is way too short! You do not want to look back and be full of regrets. You have the talent, you have the opportunities, the rest is up to you. Make a promise to yourself and say, “I will do this right now!!!”

You were designed for greatness. God wants you to have the very best and you are gifted with talents. Be your best supporter at all times and no matter what happens, never ever give up!

Have an awesome week!

FANTASY! 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

How does a show last for 20 years in Las Vegas with all the changes at casinos?  Well, they have to be fantastic and they are.

This beautiful and sexy show is produced by Anita Mann, who was a dancer herself; it is considered the Gold Standard of adult revues and the Luxor has been lucky to have them for all this time.

The dynamic lead singer Lorena Peril belts out sexy songs including Whole Lotta Woman, Queen of the Night, Hips Don’t Lie, along with the cast of picture-perfect dancers and aerial silk artists.  Sean E. Cooper, the funny comic is always the best.  He can sing, he can dance, and he certainly can make the crowd laugh.

Fantasy has its 2020 Calendar, featuring these ladies, for sale.   Last night, they opened with as many of the past casts as could possibly attend.  Each was introduced and they all look like they could still be performing. There are 15 high energy numbers that change yearly, choreographed by Mandy Moore.

This show goes on 7 nights a week at 10:30 and starts at $47 plus tax.  Perfectly fit for men, ladies, couples, or bachelorette parties.

CORK & SOUL LAS VEGAS

CORK AND SOUL once again did their fabulous fundraiser at Tivoli Village on Friday, October 11th.

The weather was picture perfect.  For three hours people strolled and tasted and met new friends.  Music was provided by Clint Holmes and Zowie Bowie.

This yearly event is $75 and everyone should put on their calendar for next October.

The newly opened Hop Nuts Brewing was a hit. Canes chicken provided bandanas for dogs, keychains, glasses, nail files, lip gloss, and plenty of branded items.

Tivoli Village is located on the west side of Las Vegas. It features numerous shops, restaurants, and lots of office space.
