Submit Yourself to the Winning Process

“You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.“-Zig Ziglar

I always loved listening to Zig and enjoyed reading his books over the years. He was definitely a true winner, what a great example he was!

I believe that we are all born to win, but in order to win, there is a process. I love these three steps that Zig speaks about. In order to submit to this process, it’s important to believe that you are a winner and that you deserve success in your life. You have to believe it in order to achieve it. Starting today, if you are not doing this already, when you get up in the morning, give yourself a pep talk and look in the mirror and tell that person in the glass what an awesome winner they are.

Once you have the belief, the next step is to submit to the process of winning. There is no doubt about it that winning needs to have a process. Let’s break these steps down.

1) Plan to Win

In order to achieve success and win, you have to have a clear vision of exactly what you want. There are goals that need to be set. I’m talking about specific, detailed goals; basically, targets. The success process is all about setting goals. There has to be a precise WHY you are doing what you are doing, this way we can measure how we are progressing. It can’t just be about making money.

When you have a positive vision and goals, it will create an excitement and a burning desire to achieve your dreams.

Also keep in mind that having a firm foundation is very important in order to achieve success. Zig focused on honesty, character, faith, integrity, love, and loyalty. By having a foundation built on these qualities, your success will be long-term and not short-lived.

2) Prepare to Win

In order to achieve success and become a winner, you have to equip yourself properly. Get the right knowledge and support and surround yourself with people that are going to take you to the levels of success you desire.

Preparation is important—knowledge breeds confidence. Once you’ve achieved different success levels, set new goals and keep growing. Because when you stop growing, you begin to shrink. Learn your industry and have strong, successful, positive mentors in your life. Life is all about moving forward and expanding. Read books and listen to inspirational messages daily.

3) Expect to Win

If you examine some of the great sports heroes, you will find that every time they go out and play, they expect to win. They understand that they will fail but the failing is part of growing. Their confidence brings out confidence in their teammates also.

If you plan to win and you are prepared to win, this will help you in expecting to win. The confidence comes in positive expectation. When you are prepared and you know you have made a positive plan, you start to expect to have a positive outcome.

Take a look back at the times in your life where you won, where you experienced success. I’m quite confident that you will be able to pick out these three steps which helped you succeed. It takes a true commitment to becoming a winner. You were born to win, don’t ever forget that. It doesn’t come easy, you just have to submit to the process. Never give up and never look back.

Have a week of winning!

Joker — Movie Review

WHY SO SERIOUS?

Movie Review – Joker

Review by Ray Schillaci

This is possibly the hardest review I’ve had to commit to. After seeing Todd Phillips’ Joker, I felt like I needed to be committed or at least get a good cleansing. I can appreciate his Scorsese-like interpretation of one of the most beloved DC villains. But, at the same time, I have no desire to ever see it again. Phillips’ telling of the spiral downfall of Arthur Fleck, portrayed magnificently by Joaquin Phoenix, is so bleak that it nearly makes Scorsese’s Taxi Driver appear to be a far happier tale of mental illness and the dissemination of a society’s downfall. In other words, Gotham goes to hell with the clown prince dancing away with his minions.

We have not seen such a love letter to a filmmaker since J.J. Abrams genuflected to George Lucas with The Force Awakens. In other words, there would be no Joker movie without the maestro that gave us Taxi Driver and King of Comedy. The big difference, for me, is that most of Scorsese’s films are worth repeated viewings while Joker is not. In fact, one could actually surmise that Phoenix’s performance as Arthur Fleck/Joker is far better than the film itself.

There are some that will argue that the film meanders a half hour too long, that Phoenix and Phillips are self-indulgent and overkill the portrayal of Fleck’s unraveling, and that the echoes or homages to previous Scorsese films are too obvious. All these arguments are justified to a point, for both star and filmmaker walk a fine line between brilliance and creative forces out of control. This film is far from a comic book movie, and perhaps that was the point. But, at times one cannot help wonder did they have to take it to such extremes?

The film opens with Arthur preparing his clown makeup along with others as sign spinners in front of storefronts. Immediately, we can see that Arthur is damaged goods. He’s socially awkward and stands out like a sore thumb amongst the other clowns. He suffers from a condition of uncontrollable laughter in which he hands cards out to people when it comes on at the most inappropriate times.

Add to that, he has delusions of becoming a standup comic and eventually landing a spot on the Murray Franklin show which he watches with his sickly mother that he lives with and takes care of. Franklin is an obvious take on Johnny Carson. On top of this mental trash heap, Arthur puts up with his mother perpetually sending letters to millionaire Thomas Wayne, constantly expecting a response back. And, Arthur’s therapy with a social worker is slowly descending to oblivion with only the seven drugs or so holding him together.

After a series of unfortunate incidents, Arthur slowly descends down the rabbit hole when he commits his first act of murderous rage. Worse than that, there are those in society that applaud him, making the clown a hero of sorts. The violence in this film is shocking. The portrayal of mental illness and what we’ve become as a society that makes people feel invisible is spot on. As far as social statement, Phillips and his writing partner Scott Silver not only nail it, they slam the hammer down continuously. It’s exhausting, and yet some out there will find it exhilarating. There are not only shout outs to Scorsese, there is also a reminder of 1974’s Death Wish.

At the center of it all is Joaquin Phoenix’s near revelatory turn as a man on the edge slowly tipping over and it is mesmerizing. I cannot recall an actor that made so much use of his body movements to embolden such a character. At the same time, he makes us feel so uncomfortable in Arthur Fleck’s skin that he is often difficult to watch.

Todd Phillips’ Joker is not only divisive, daring, and shocking (at times), his film challenges the audience. From his happy-go-lucky credits to the toe-tapping musical tunes that accompany all the madness, this may very well be a film reflecting the sad times we live in. Does it reach the cult status of a Fight Club or artistry of Taxi Driver? No, this film is more in your face and under your skin. Phillips and company made it a point that you will not have a good time or expect a sequel that includes Batman. This is a tale of destruction of a human soul and all that it effects. Is it effective? Yes. Is it worth seeing on the big screen or in the comfort of your home? You will have to be the judge. I’m still pondering that last question.

GREAT GREEK MEDITERRANEAN GRILL

What a busy month for all us, especially food writers.

Today I was at GREAT GREEK MEDITERRANEAN GRILL on W. Craig. This is their third Las Vegas location, along with one in West Palm Beach.

This excellent place has plans for 60 more, this year alone, in the country serving fresh, wonderful, quickly served Greek food. I tried a lemon chicken soup, a wonderful salad with plenty of the famous Feta cheese, a chicken and shrimp wrap—which I will love tonight for dinner—some rice pudding, and lemony Greek cookies. The Greek pastry is to die for.

Open from 11-8, give them a try. 7031 W. Craig along with one in Henderson. thegreatgreekgrill.com

3 Benefits of Selling With an Agent

You’ve finally decided to sell your home. Parting can be such sweet sorrow! But once you’ve made up your mind, you want nothing more than for your home to sell quickly and for a good price.

That’s why we should work together.

Having an experienced local real estate agent by your side from listing to closing can pay off — literally. Here are a few reasons why working with an agent can make all the difference when you’re ready to sell:

We have a deep understanding of the market. Maybe you sold a home five years ago. Well, at that time, the market has changed significantly.

Working with an agent can help you make the most of today’s market. Plus, I intimately know how the market works, and I’m up-to-date on pricing patterns and trends in the area.

We’ve got access to insider marketing tools. You may expect that finding viable buyers will be tough. But real estate agents have access to marketing materials that can help you connect with buyers quickly and effectively, like multiple listing services (MLS), which are used to share listings.

I can also host an open house and spread the word about your home offline.

We know the best ways to handle buyer’s offers. Fielding offers can be overwhelming. How should you conduct negotiations? When should you accept an offer? What kind of counteroffer is reasonable?

Lucky for you, we’ve seen it all before, so you don’t have to go it alone. We can discuss your hopes, worries and everything in between throughout the selling process.

Think Like an Above Average Person

Success is at the top and failure at the bottom. When you think about mediocrity or being average, it is right smack in the middle. Keep in mind, mediocrity is just as close to the bottom as it is to the top.

Very often, as I speak to possible candidates for a position with RMS, they will ask, “What does the average salesperson earn?” Automatically, that tells me they consider themselves average.

Honestly, I don’t think anyone wants to be just average. When someone is average, life can be boring and they don’t get to enjoy the finer things. The one problem is that many people don’t know how to become above average.

Studies show that 98% of people are stuck at an average or mediocre level or worse. The reason is they think that they can keep doing the same thing and get different results. As many of you have heard, that is the definition of insanity.

It’s funny how many can come into an opportunity like RMS and say they want to make a lot of money and then just start doing what the average people do. And sooner or later, they will complain about not making enough money.

So the big question is, ”How do you become above average?” If you really want to know how to be above average, you have to think about what above average people do. There are many people that know what a lot of the above average people do and they even get training on how to do it, but unfortunately they won’t do it.

I find that they have plenty of excuses and end up staying in their comfort zone where they keep doing the same things as the average people and then wonder why they are not earning above average income.

Here is the question that I’d like for you to ask yourself, “Is what I’m doing, or about to do, something that an above average person would do?”

It’s time to think like an above average person.

With RMS, we have plenty of resources to help you succeed. We have plenty of motivational and training videos that will teach you every facet of our business. You are surrounded by success. All of the leaders within our group lead by example.

The magic word that I am talking about is ACTION. An above average person will learn everything they can about our industry and choose to take action; they will apply what they learned immediately. This is what it takes to be successful.

Surround yourself with successful people. Find people that have what you want, model after them, do what they do, and start making the decisions you know they would make.

You will be amazed how much your results will change just by doing this; you are who you hang around with. Limit yourself from associating with average or below average people. I’m not saying to eliminate them from your life, I am pointing out that it is very important that if you want to be above average that you get your help from people that are in life where you want to be.

Make a commitment to excellence. Every action you take throughout the day moves you closer or further from your goals. Start thinking like an above average person. This will help you to make the right decisions and to take action in the right direction that gets you closer to reaching your goals. This is truly how to be above average and how to get above average results.

Life is too short just to be mediocre. You are a winner and you deserve the very best. Take action daily and choose to be ABOVE AVERAGE!

Have an above average week!

Why Is Keeping on Top of Your Credit Report Vital?

“The real problem with credit reports is the astounding number of errors,” says Brookings Institute fellow, Aaron Klein. And often, these errors weigh against an individual’s credibility, making them seem like a bigger risk than they actually are.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, one in five people has an error on at least one of their credit reports. These can either affect their ability to obtain credit or result in more expensive credit terms. How can the average American stay on top of these reports and ensure that they reflect the actual amounts owed?

Annual Credit Reports are Free

Obtaining updated credit reports doesn’t have to be expensive. You can obtain a free copy every year from each of the three major credit reporting companies on AnnualCreditReport.com. Rather than obtaining all three at once, why not space them out so you can conduct regular reviews? By doing so, you can correct errors at no cost and ensure that all three companies have the same information.

Errors that Hurt Your Pocket

To ensure your credit reports are error-free, go through all vital information (including personal information) with a fine-toothed comb, taking the time you need and finding a nice, quiet spot in which to work in a focused manner. Some of the most costly errors can include accounts that are incorrectly listed as delinquent, having the same debt reported more than once, and being reported as an account owner when you are merely authorized to use it. When you spot an error, contact the credit recording company and the institution that provided them with the erroneous information. When doing so, gather all the documentation you need to prove an error has been made.

Who is Making Mistakes?

The FTC reports that there are three main reasons why credit reports may be inaccurate. First, data furnishers may provide incorrect information to credit reporting agencies. Secondly, the data furnished may be correct, but it may be assigned to the wrong person. Finally, a credit reporting agency may send information to one person that pertains to another.

Seeking Help when Required

In some cases, seeking the help of a company specializing in credit repair may be useful. Bear in mind that sometimes, correcting a credit report is not as easy as it should be. This is the case, for instance, if despite informing the credit reporting agency of the amendment to be made, the corrected report does not reflect your instructions. This could easily happen, say in the case of a wrong balance. Instead of simply correcting the balance, the credit reporting agency might just remove the account if they cannot confirm the existence of the account with the financial institution you have stipulated. At other times, you may file a dispute yet find that no correction has been made at all. If you find that you are repeatedly knocking at the door of any of the three major credit reporting agencies, and that your report still fails to accurately represent your financial position, you may wish to speed the process up with professional help.

Studying your credit reports regularly is vital, because these reports are used for everything from granting insurance to providing telecommunications services. A wrong name or status could change everything, or at least make services you contract more expensive than they should be. If you spot any error (even one that you cannot see affecting your financial well-being), ensure that both the data furnishers and the credit reporting agency are aware of it. Check to see that amendments have been made accurately and if there are various problems with a credit report, professional help can pave the way to a better credit score.
