Queens of Rock Is the Best

Last night, I saw for the second time the grand reopening of “The Queens of Rock” and the show was fantastic. It did not disappoint!

If you would like to take a trip through hit music performed by top female artists starting in the 70s up to now this is definitely the show to see!

Elyzabeth Diaga’s voice is amazing, her moves capture all the artists she portrays and her personality says it all. This artist needs to get the credit she deserves.

Born in Montreal, Canada, to a French Canadian opera singer, she traveled the world. At age 18 she started singing professionally. In the 90s she started her own band and won a major symphonic production in Prague, where she had two original albums. Diaga went on to sing in a Disney movie and numerous other musicals.

In 2010 she decided to create her own one-woman show and thus began the Queens of Rock. In 2014 she moved to Las Vegas and started at Station Casino. From there she went on to Mosaic Theater on the Las Vegas strip in 2020, and my first time to see her was last September.

Last night’s show was filled with media and we all rocked along with her hits and the great band. They were outstanding, so a special shout-out to them. Elyzabeth is worth every second of your time to see.

The show is at 5 p.m. and Mosaic Theater is just north of MGM. Elyzabeth is a lead vocalist who has phenomenal stage presence and an amazing voice.

Looking forward to coming back again!

Menopause the Musical and Vegas Vibe Threw a Great Party!

Another fabulous night put on by Vegas Vibe at Harrah’s Casino last night. About 80 of us gathered in the Laurel Lounge, a private room, with drinks and delicious appetizers from Ruth’s Chris Steak house inside the hotel. The performers joined us at the mixer before the show and mingled about.

Fun raffle prizes, including more tickets to Menopause, tickets to Bronx Wanderers, and John Legend. Vegas Vibe puts on fantastic events monthly if you are in the tourism industry. Their magazine is in all the hotels. After the meet and greet, everyone walked to the showroom for a terrific night of fun and laughter.

Are you ready to have fun with hot flashes, mood swings, memory loss, and weight gain? Well, Menopause The Musical can whisk you away into the world of middle-aged womanhood!

Menopause The Musical has been entertaining audiences of all ages for over 20 years with over 17 million people seeing the show, and has toured 500 cities. It’s all about their hysterical views on the female experience, with hit songs from the ’50s, ’60s, and 70’s. You’ll be up and dancing along to the tunes while you enjoy this story of optimism, growth, and hilarity.

Laugh along with Menopause The Musical inside Harrah’s Cabaret at 8 p.m. any night but Sunday. Produced by Alan and Kathi Glist, this team has numerous other shows in town including the Bronx Wanders at the Westgate.

How to Read a Novel by Caroline Gordon

The astute novelist and critic, Caroline Gordon (1895—1981), first published this book in 1953. It is directed toward the serious reader of fiction; but it can also help those who have a serious desire to write fiction.

My use of the word “serious” (in both instances) corresponds to Gordon’s distinction between novels which offer readers enjoyment rather than amusement. Enjoyment, in the sense that she means, goes deep; it can have an illuminating effect on the mind or it can reach into untapped regions of the soul. Amusement, on the other hand, is superficial, like a ride on a rollercoaster. It’s fun but not especially meaningful. Gordon’s book teaches readers how to attain the deeper pleasures of reading.

The human desire to compose or read fiction seems to be innate. In history it goes back at least as far as Homer, and it articulates various themes via the words and deeds and experiences of imaginary characters. These stories are not true, not in the way a work of history or a journalistic article is true (ideally). And yet a work of fiction expresses, by the power of the written word and the virtually omnipotent human imagination, a particular view about human existence that can be enlightening and compelling. Naturally some fictional works pull this off better or more truthfully than others.

Gordon describes the component parts of a novel: mainly, Complication and Resolution. She quotes Aristotle who says: “By Complication, I mean all from the beginning of the story to the point just before the change in the hero’s fortunes. By Resolution [I mean] the beginning of the change to the end.” Gordon continues:

‘The ideal effect, of course, is that in which the Resolution appears to grow out of the Complication as inevitably, as naturally, as a plant grows from a seed.’

This means that inevitability should be latent in the first two or three pages of a novel. But there is a big difference between inevitability and predictability.

I don’t like everything in Gordon’s book. Sometimes her manner is excessively sophisticated, and the result is an over-complication of the reading experience. Instinct is a crucial factor, I would say. The good or serious reader simply knows what works and what doesn’t—which is not to say that a perusal of Gordon’s book is a waste of time. Overall, her study of this subject is invaluable.

To illustrate her numerous points and insights, Gordon quotes from many literary sources: Sophocles, Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Flaubert and Henry James, to name just a few (she pays especially meticulous attention to James’ work). The more ambitious student of How to Read a Novel could use it as a guide and primer to these many authors and their works, and attain thereby a truly profound understanding of literature. It’s a project that might take years to complete but it can have an enriching effect overall and stay with one for a lifetime.

Rouge-Absolutely Hottest New Show in Las Vegas

ROUGE: The Sexiest Show in Vegas, a brand new exciting, topless spectacular and immersive sensual experience had its media event last night with a gala at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod in Las Vegas. The stage at The STRAT Theater, (formerly the Stratosphere) got mighty hot for this fabulous new production. The giant showroom was perfect for this elegant theatrical experience leaving everyone in the audience feeling just a little bit naughtier, as they looked at their partners or guests seated next to them. The jokes and the characters were outrageous and all in good fun.

We started the evening with drinks outside the showroom, then moved inside where plenty of appetizers were passed to the crowd. All of the cast members mingled and flirted as we were treated to chicken and beef skewers, cups of hummus, and lovely bites of shrimp. Each person had a beautiful filled cookie to take home on their table. One of the featured drinks was “The Nurse Naughty-tini,” inspired by one of the characters in the show, “Nurse Naughty”.

ROUGE is not just a show — it’s a journey of seduction and adult adventure designed to unleash one’s fantasies mixed with some extreme humor. We all have fantasies — and this erotic production brought them all out, with the huge 18-person cast of stunningly gorgeous topless women and men that were there to thrill and titillate you.

Created by Hanoch Rosènn, the man who has two other shows in town, of which I have seen both, Extravaganza at Bally’s and WOW – The Vegas Spectacular at the Rio. ROUGE combines “sexpertise” with acrobats, aerialists, dancers, contortionists, comedians, hand balancers, and more. The costuming and stage sets are perfect, the music fantastic, and every performer seems to totally love their role.

“I can feel the excitement and heartbeats of the cast backstage!” said Hanoch Rosènn, the Creator/Director of ROUGE, just prior to the show. “Though the cast is composed of the top, internationally award-winning men and women who are renowned for their artistry in acrobatics, dance, comedy, and aerial skills, they know they are in the city of shows, Las Vegas, and tonight is truly something special for all us.”

Rosènn has also brought along his Creative Team, including choreographer Nathan J. Clarke, (Creative Director and Choreographer for The Voice UK for four consecutive years and has worked with such artists as Annie Lennox, Rihanna, Queen and Robbie Williams). In addition, Lighting Designer Charles Morrison (Finding Magic Mike/HBO Max) is on board to design an erotic world inside The STRAT Theater; as well as, Costume Designer Ella Kolesnik (Swan Lake Rock Opera); Video Designer Shai Bonder (The Voice, and lead video designer for Eurovision 2019); Musical Director, Gur Murad (WOW, Extravaganza and various musicals and circus shows); award-winning Set Designer Michael Kramenko (ONE, presented by Rita, the biggest Israeli musical); Resident and Artistic Director, Sheer Davidai (WOW and Extravaganza); Music Planner, Kobi Ben Atar; and, Artistic Advisor, Yaniv Hadad.

Whether it’s ancient Rome, the Palace of Versailles, or modern-day Las Vegas, ROUGE takes you through one journey after another.

Let me highly recommend this show for the next time you’re in Las Vegas, it is stunning and beautiful. Show is on the second floor and parking at The Strat is free.

“ROUGE: THE SEXIEST SHOW IN VEGAS” Performance Schedule / “Topless Nightly”:

ROUGE performs topless nightly Tuesday through Sunday at 10pm (dark Monday) with an additional show on Tuesdays at 8pm, inside The STRAT Theater at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & SkyPod in Las Vegas. Tickets are $49 – $99 (VIP experience) + taxes and fees. Must be 18+. (A special 25% discount off all ticket price levels will apply to preview performances April 16 through 30.) Tickets on sale now and can be purchased at TheSTRAT.com or by calling 702-380-7777. How to Lead a Hybrid Workplace Effectively

The hybrid workplace model allows some or all employees to choose where and when they work. In-office time is allocated by days, teams, or as-needed basis, combining remote workers with on-site ones. According to a report on hybrid work models from CNBC, around 45% of companies expect to lead with this approach. Employees, in particular, prefer this flexible arrangement and expect it to continue for good.

Management will undergo challenges as organizations change. Modern leadership skills will also transition to meet the needs of contemporary employees, who are asking for more autonomy and a healthy work-life balance. Undoubtedly, balancing the needs of remote and in-person professionals will be tricky for many leaders. Here are three tips on managing a hybrid workplace effectively:

Cultivate a culture of trust

An article on organizational trust from Forbes points out that the disconnect between managers and workers is often rooted in lack of communication, transparency, and trust. During the start of the pandemic, leaders were afraid that employees would not be productive from home. Now, remote workers may feel like their in-office colleagues enjoy more trust because of hybrid workplace visibility.

Communication is the best way to build two-way trust among teams. Honest, transparent, and consistent communication will provide workers a sense of stability. Rather than checking on remote workers all the time and causing them to feel suffocated, schedule regular, individual check-in times with everyone to provide guidance, share successes, and provide clarity on the company’s directions. As a leader, it’s your role to set clear expectations and create a system of accountability.

Develop a people-oriented management style

Some managerial styles were able to transition flawlessly for a hybrid system, but we know it’s not for everyone. Obviously, micromanaging is not appreciated — but neither is being a people-pleaser. Recent years have seen a paradigm shift to more compassion and increased concern for employees, but being too likable won’t grow respect.

As a feature on being a great leader by LHH points out, there’s a big difference between popularity and true leadership. You need to remain compassionate towards your employees, but they also need to be assured that you can make the hard calls when needed. The goal is to show respect, trust, and fairness towards everyone. Do check in on teams’ well-being, while highlighting shared team norms and expectations.

Stay flexible, stay agile

It’s likely that the hybrid workplace is a new experiment for your company. Moreover, you’d also be welcoming five generations into the workforce. We know everyone is different, with a unique set of capabilities, experiences, and mentality to offer the team. That also means however, that no single approach works for everyone. A Strategic HR Review study on flexibility notes that it’s critical to engage with individuals within an organization to understand their perspectives, identify challenges, and find opportunities.

A good leader will prepare employees for potential stumbling blocks that come with the hybrid model. Plans will inevitably change, and you cannot be rigid about your system. Ask team members on what works and what doesn’t, then change the design as you see fit. Remember, we’re all testing and learning as we go along.

Our guide on the ‘Essential Steps to Protect Your Business in 2022’ previously stated that boosting your online strategy will play a key role in driving business growth. As operations go digital, it makes sense for companies to make more working days remote. Throughout the pandemic, employees have proved that the remote setup allows for both productivity and flexibility. They now need you, as a leader, to help them maneuver through a post-pandemic life together.

Virgin Hotels Kassi and Night & Market Restaurants

Another night of out and about in fascinating and constant action Las Vegas. Greenspun Media invited some of the concierges and media writers out to both a new restaurant and an old one at Virgin Hotels.

We started out in two groups as there were close to 80 of us, and the first up was newly created Kassi which sits right on the edge of the pool. Open, airy, filled with plenty of plants and bamboo accessories, the long couches can accommodate any size group. The bar holds about 14 and we started there with a great drink and the first round of appetizers, which were meatballs and stuffed olives.

Sitting by the pool, which of course in the coming months will needs lots of fans to keep us cool, the patrons were all happy to see this new place with quite a varied menu.

After an hour we switched out with the other half of the group and were treated to Night & Market on the other side of the casino; I’ve eaten there a couple of times in the past. With chef Kris Yenbamroong making some of his famous dishes we started out with a wine tasting of a light wine, smooth and tasty. He proceeded to bring out dishes, each for four persons to share. Grilled beef, a spicy lettuce-like wrap, great chicken wings, and more.

We were seated at a long table on an upper deck. Back around they came with a second selection of wine and we were not left hungry. Virgin Hotels has numerous restaurants and we couldn’t have been happier with this event! Stop by next time in town—located on Paradise and not the strip. It was formerly Hard Rock Hotel.

Jenny Tinmouth: Dreams, Skills and Merit

Dreams, Skills and Merit

Isle of Man TT

by Night Train

Isle of Man TT (iomtt.com) is the world’s most challenging and dangerous motorcycle race on the planet. Literally. Held on 37-miles of tiny European public roads reaching speeds well in excess of 200 mph, this is the pinnacle of motorsports. Google the name and see for yourself footage of bikes racing at speeds making Moto GP look like child’s play. This event certainly has been on my radar screen for years. It is on my bucket list to see it live and God willing, try it as well.

Jennifer Rosanne Tinmouth (born 8 March 1978) is an English motorcycle racer and professional motorcycle stunt performer. Jenny is the fastest female to lap the Isle of Man TT course. She broke the record during her first TT in 2009, gaining a Guinness World Record for this achievement. She then re-broke the record during her second TT in 2010 taking the record to an average lap speed of 119.945mph, receiving another Guinness World record for this achievement.

Jenny is also the first and only female to have competed in the British Superbike Championship. For which she was also awarded a Guinness World Record. Her list of accomplishments is astounding and so lengthy it is impossible to list them all here. To list a few, Jenny has achieved many firsts for women in the sport. She was the first female to enter and qualify to race in the British 125gp Championship, the British Supersport and Supersport Cup Championships and the British Superbike Championship.

In 2012, Jenny received The Women’s International Film and Television Showcase International Visionary Awards ‘IT Girl’ awarded in Los Angeles, for her Wcommitment and dedication to her sport, sighting her as an inspiration to women across the spectrum of all ages around the world. She also received the most Meritorious Performance by a Solo Newcomer Award at the TT in 2009 and the Susan Jenness Trophy in both 2009 and 2010 for the Most Meritorious Performance by a Female Competitor at the TT and has also received two ‘Your Champions’ Sporting awards. In 2013 she was extremely privileged to be invited to the Women of the Year Awards in London, an extremely prestigious awards lunch celebrating the success of extraordinary and inspirational women from all aspects of life.

Jenny is proud to have had 57 podiums including 22 wins during her racing career and to have received 14 awards. In 2014 Jenny was lucky enough to join the Stunt Team for the Mission Impossible franchise and was privileged to be motorcycle rider stunt double for Rebecca Ferguson on both Mission Impossible 5 and 6.

I met Jenny for the first time a few weeks ago. She was accompanied by her dog “Sprocket”, a Dachshund mixed with Jack Russel. Her dad always had motorcycles, and she decided from a young age that she wanted to make a living out of racing motorcycles. “It was a dream and my ambition,” she said timidly yet with great pride and confidence. At a young age she was attracted to bloke sports, Barbies were definitely not on her radar screen! At a young age she went to see the races and got hooked. She pursued being a motorcycle technician then volunteered her time at the closest dealership hoping to land a more permanent position to open some doors. Boy did it open doors!

Jenny soon got noticed for her love and passion in the sport. “The love and passion for this sport is the great equalizer between males and females in this sport,” she said. Being male or female, entitlement does not supersede merit in this sport. I wish we could say the same in other dimensions and markets! Friendly bantering is rather appreciated and not seen as harassment either. On track, she races both females and males and gender disappears when the road starts to look like a tunnel.

Jenny did not get where she is without adversity. On the contrary! Her word of advice “when you face a storm, dig deep and pursue your dreams.” Having the right support matters too, and Jenny is forever grateful for Greg at Manx Glass & Glazing as well as Stephen Bradley her business partner who has been there forever by her side. Jenny’s top speed? 185mph… five over mine, but the difference is she held it there for more than five seconds!

Jenny has never been to Florida. I asked and she would absolutely visit to teach some skills to a few select. Any takers? Guy Martin, a legendary racer of Isle of Man TT says, “We are not here for a long time. We are here for a good time!” That’s in part what fuels Jenny to live her life fully.

6 Vital Apartment Hunting Tips

Buying a house is part of the American dream for many; however, it’s 2022 and real estate prices have skyrocketed. You don’t have to give up on a place to call your own though. There are many apartments available to fit your lifestyle and budget, so with a little time and a few tips you can find the perfect space for you.

When looking for an apartment, whether you’re thinking short-term or something a little more permanent, it’s important to write a list of what is most important to you. Amenities, size, parking, furnished… these are all things for you to consider.

Moving may seem daunting, but with these tips, your search may be easier than you thought.

1. Set a Budget

How much can you realistically afford for rent? This includes monthly expenses associated with your apartment; electricity, gas, perhaps a parking permit, water, trash, etc.

Many complexes include utilities such as water, trash, and parking, but some do not; especially those in a large city. So, these are important questions to ask during your search.

2. Location, location, location

Whether you’re moving to a new state, city, or across town, you’ll want to do some research on neighborhoods. The internet is a good start, but nothing beats a drive-through during both day and night, or at the very least a personal recommendation via friends, social media, or new colleagues at a job for which you’re moving.

Some things to consider about neighborhoods—are there close grocery stores, accessible parking for either you or both you and friends you may have over? Does it look and feel safe, especially if you are living alone? Is there a social scene close by? If you have children, are other kids around, is the school nearby?

3. Pets

Do they allow pets? If so, what are the requirements? Do they allow both cats and dogs, and is it just a pet deposit or extra rent every month?

These are important questions to ask as many apartments have a strict no pet policy, or at the very least a weight limit. It would be an unfortunate scenario to find the supposed perfect place and discover they won’t let your furry friend move in with you. This is something for you to include in your budget if they require extra rent for Buddy.

4. Make a list

Create a spreadsheet of places you want to see and make sure to include spaces for price, parking, amenities, pet allowance, neighborhood, and personal notes to jot down regarding each property.

5. Amenities

What amenities are the most important to you? Is it important to have a pool and/or hot tub, fitness center, laundry facilities or washer/dryer hook-up, covered parking or garage? If so, then you should consider looking at these apartments for rent in South Houston as you might find your next potential home.

6. Lease Requirements

What are their lease options—six-months, one year, month-to-month? This is a big question if you’re looking to start small and save money to move up, or perhaps you want something more permanent.

A little research goes a long way, and hopefully we’ve provided you with a few questions that perhaps you hadn’t thought about. Good luck on your quest in finding your perfect, or  perfect-for-now, humble abode.
