Mariela Sabino and her curiosity for fashion has led her to discover unknown worlds from a young age, traveling to New York, Paris, Berlin, and Italy.
She dedicated herself to fashion journalism in the Dominican Republic and Paris for over ten years. Her love for art led her to become a stylist for major international fashion brands.
Television was never an obstacle for Sabino, but she always thought big, polishing herself as a production assistant of Tita Hasbún in the Fashion TV program and several Dominican networks Antena Latina programs. This transported her to an international level, becoming the right hand of Stephen Hill, Director of Music and Programming for BET (Black Entertainment Television) in New York.
She continuously supports the best Dominican designers, such as Luis Dominguez and Moises Quezada, who have been her guide and became the Image Coordinator of Jenny Polanco’s stores in La Romana.
She had great support from Joel Diaz, Carolina Hera, and Nicole Miller, who maintained a friendly relationship with her.
But design was not the only thing that caught Sabino’s attention; she always wanted to know more about the exclusive clients who opted for luxury: here she began her story in Paris with Rick Owens, Lanvin, Azzedine Alaia, Gucci, Hermès, Yves Saint Laurent.
She was backstage coordinator of the fashion shows for Badgley Mischa and Naeem Khan along with Fundacion MIR for over six years in the DR, which opened doors for her to work backstage at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week NY for designers Nicole Miller and Carolina Herrera.
Mariela was also Assistant Director of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Santo Domingo, for which she returned to the DR. This prepared her for the biggest challenge, being Creative Director of Global Fashion Collective NYC and Paris as well as being one of the first to create digital runway shows for Midwest Fashion Week and Le Catou in Paris and USA.
Her leadership contributed to her integration of the Paris Secret Code luxury showroom, where her role was to position and distribute brands such as Idan Cohen, Ziad Nakad, Nedo Collection, Kithe Brewster Atelier, and Daname serving as a representative for the European and Asian markets.
This gave her even more recognition from the designer Kithe Brewster, who offered her a position as Director of his Atelier in Paris. She oversaw the last season when she had one of her most memorable Haute Couture shows in the city of fashion before the closing of her Atelier.
Currently, Mariela Sabino has changed Paris for Italy, always hand in hand with luxury, now with a position as Director of Communications and Marketing for the renowned maritime industry company A.B.A Yacht SRL, which is responsible for building and repairing yachts and mega yachts around the world.
