EXXCITE New Show at the RIO

Jennifer Romas, a long-time friend of mine has once again produced a new show with a stunning cast as usual. The crew, family, and supporters were all there this week for the media night. They have reinvented their vision of her last show, Sexxy, and have settled on the name “Exxcite”, and that’s an appropriate name as the show is at the Rio Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas.

We were treated to cocktails and appetizers before the show with the cast greeting everyone—the house was full.

Jennifer is absolutely the most brilliant and talented dancer in Las Vegas. She has produced numerous shows over the years and never fails to amaze everyone. The choreography was the kind of fantastic that only Jennifer can produce in Las Vegas. Magnificent visual costumes and all new great music—Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 10 p.m. Lots of free parking.

Thanks to everyone, Jennifer Romas, The Duomo, Exxcite the Show including cast and crew, Damian Costa, Michael Caprio Media and all those working on lights and music.

Quaker Steak and Lube–Authentic Bike Night

Quaker Steak and Lube

The Authentic Original Bikers’ Night

20 Years Anniversary

By: Florida Night Train©

9/20/2023

It all started in 1974 when co-owners George “Jig” Warren III and Gary “Moe” Meszaros bought a vacant automobile service station and converted it into a restaurant and bar named appropriately, “The Quaker Steak and Lube”. It served a simple menu and invited guests to come in and cook their own steak. How bout that?! Two years later, the menu was expanded to include the popular Buffalo-style chicken wing prepared with the choice of unique homemade sauces. The Lube® won its first major award in 1988—Best Wings USA at the National Chicken-Out competition in Cleveland, OH. Since then, Jig and Moe passed the motorsports-themed concept onto JDK Management, which is the local franchise of the Clearwater Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant.

As I sat there with a drink, chatting with Bill Church, who brought the franchise to Florida in 2003, we reminisced about the real, the true, the original and authentic bike nights. How it started back in the day—that is, before everyone and their uncle started their own bike nights. When the only thing that mattered was camaraderie, motorcycles, affordable food, and concerts. The original bike nights would bring in hundreds and sometimes thousands of bikes. Back in October 2003, when Bill opened QSL located at 10400 49th St N, Clearwater, FL 33762, he started bike nights. First week 50 bikes showed, second week 100 bikes showed, and weeks after it was 200+ each week. I remember in mid-year ~2005ish seeing literally thousands of bikes—all shapes, colors, and years! There were awards for best bike, entertaining games, as well as good and not so good bands. People had an absolute blast, I assure you.

Clearwater, Florida, a coastal haven bathed in sunshine and dotted with palm trees, may not be the first place that comes to mind when one thinks of the vibrant biker culture. However, tucked away in this picturesque corner of the Sunshine State, there it is; the legendary gathering that has been drawing motorcycle enthusiasts from near and far for decades – the Quaker Steak and Lube’s Biker Night. With its rich history and unique charm, this weekly event has become an integral part of Clearwater’s culture, celebrating the freedom of the open road and the spirit of camaraderie that defines the biker community. A rendezvous of sorts for charity events and poker-runs supporting those.

Many have tried to copy and take from the idea but they will never truly be able to replicate the authentic spirit of the QSL bike night. Ever. The event started as a small meet-up for motorcycle enthusiasts to showcase their prized possessions. Over time it grew in popularity, thanks to word-of-mouth and the unique, uncomplicated atmosphere that Quaker Steak and Lube provided. With its vibrant décor, featuring classic cars and motorcycles suspended from the ceiling, the restaurant itself became a testament to the love of all things motorized.

Quaker Steak and Lube’s Biker Night still takes place every Wednesday evening, transforming the restaurant’s parking lot into a two-wheeled wonderland. From custom choppers to vintage Harley-Davidsons and speed bikes, the parking lot becomes a symphony of engine roars and chrome gleams. It’s a sight to behold, a rolling exhibition of craftsmanship and a passion for the open road.

While motorcycles are undoubtedly the stars of the show, the event is much more than just a display of mechanical prowess. It’s a social gathering where bikers from all walks of life come together to share stories, swap tips, and forge lasting friendships. The sense of camaraderie and belonging is palpable, and it’s this sense of community that has kept Quaker Steak and Lube’s Biker Night alive and thriving for over four decades. You can’t copy that.

No biker night would be complete without good food and live music. Quaker Steak and Lube keeps delivering on both fronts. Attendees can indulge in the restaurant’s signature wings, a diverse menu of American classics, and, of course, an ice-cold beer. The live bands that perform on the outdoor stage keep the energy high, providing the perfect soundtrack to an evening of celebration and revelry.

Over the years, the event has also featured various competitions and contests, from bike shows to tattoo contests, adding an extra layer of excitement and entertainment for attendees. It’s this commitment to providing a full-fledged experience that has helped Quaker Steak and Lube’s Biker Night maintain its status as a must-visit event on the Florida biker calendar. You just can’t copy that.

As a testament to resilience, Quaker Steak and Lube’s Biker Night has weathered its fair share of challenges over the years. Economic downturns, changes in ownership, and even the occasional hurricane threat or the recent pandemic have all posed obstacles. However, the event’s enduring spirit and the unwavering support of the local biker community have kept it going strong. Bill is quick to point out Fran Haasch and Rhett Jones (her husband) of The Fran Haasch Law Group are an integral part, and pillars of the community’s vibrant active presence. I agree! Without Rhett and Fran and their team, this community would have never thrived as it has. You can’t copy or substitute that either.

In recent years, the event has also adapted to meet the evolving needs and preferences of bikers. Embracing technology and social media, Quaker Steak and Lube has leveraged online platforms to promote the event and connect with a broader audience. This digital presence has not only helped maintain interest but has also fostered a sense of belonging among bikers who may not always be able to attend in person.

Quaker Steak and Lube’s Biker Night is more than just a weekly gathering; it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of the biker community and a celebration of freedom, friendship, and a shared love of motorcycles. Its rich history, dating back to the 1980s, underscores its obvious importance as a cultural touchstone in Clearwater, Florida, and a symbol of the enduring power of the open road.

As we look to the future, one thing is certain: Quaker Steak and Lube’s Biker Night will continue to rev its engines and roll on, carrying the legacy of decades of riders who have come together to celebrate the thrill of the ride and the bond that unites them. It’s a tradition worth preserving and an example of the steadfast spirit of bikers everywhere. So, whether you’re a seasoned rider or just looking to soak in the atmosphere, make sure to put this iconic event on your list.

Next major event? QSL’s 20th Anniversary Party on Sunday October 8, 2023, starting at noon with a free kill the keg, 1 p.m. FREE BBQ Pork Sandwich, Blu opening and Greg Billings and Bobby Friss live on stage at 3 p.m., vendors (space available), bike show emceed by none other than veteran bike builder and judge Reverend Jim of Racing for Orphans. The day will be packed with action. As Bill described the day, his body language portrayed a child-like excitement. I’ll be there!

How to Choose the Right Outdoor Furniture for Cincinnati

Shopping for outdoor furniture can be tricky without seeing and experiencing each piece in person; therefore, it is vital that any potential purchases be tested for comfort, sturdiness and general build quality before making a final decision.

Quality outdoor furniture can transform indoor rooms into comfortable outdoor living spaces that take full advantage of nature, so keep the following things in mind before you buy to ensure you’re as happy as you can be.

Size

When selecting furniture for your backyard, it should suit the climate where you reside. There are various materials available – teak, wrought iron and synthetic resin are popular choices; each has their own set of advantages and disadvantages so be sure to research all options available carefully before making your selection.

Consider also what maintenance your material requires. If you want your Cincinnati outdoor furniture to remain looking new and stylish for as long as possible, regular cleaning is necessary – including the removal of dirt, dust and other debris from its surface and cushions/slings as well as cushions/slings themselves. Cleaning regularly will reduce mildew build-up as well as staining; for wooden pieces that have become discolored over time use deck stain to restore its beauty.

Finding the appropriate outdoor furniture can add comfort and style to your home. When purchasing new pieces for your outdoor area, be sure to consider their size, shape, maintenance needs and size to ensure the pieces fit seamlessly into your backyard oasis. Once you find these perfect pieces you can relax and take pleasure in your backyard oasis!

Material

Outdoor furniture is made up of both metals and woods. Each material offers different advantages for different climates and purposes: metals are strong and durable; easily bent into thin frames for furniture pieces or sturdy beams for pergolas.

Weather-protecting coatings like powder-coating or stainless steel offer protection from corrosion; while dense teak wood naturally resists moisture while remaining resistant to warping or insect damage over time.

Wood is an attractive material to choose for outdoor furniture due to its natural resistance to harsh weather conditions. Patio tables come in various varieties of wood from classic pine to more contemporary mahogany (as seen here); also popular are options made from palm stems like rattan for a beachy touch in your home.

Consider whether or not your outdoor furniture will become permanent fixtures in your yard, or whether it can be moved when not being used – as this can affect its size, style, and cost and maintenance requirements. Some pieces require more regular care than others.

Style

As soon as the sun shines, homeowners begin replacing last year’s patio furniture with brand new sets for entertaining friends and family or simply relaxing. Unfortunately, for first-time buyers unfamiliar with outdoor furniture styles, materials, or combinations it can be a daunting task to purchase the appropriate piece(s).

An effective way to narrow down your choices is by considering your desired usage for your backyard space. For entertaining purposes, a table and chairs may make sense, while for unwinding it might be more appropriate to include sofas and rockers.

If you live in a humid environment, wicker furniture might wilt due to humidity; metal and plastic pieces tend to perform better under all types of weather. When searching for natural or man-made pieces, look for ones treated to resist rust and corrosion as well as joints properly sealed; tendon joints or wood dowels tend to provide stronger joins than nails or glue can.

Comfort

As people start spending more time outdoors and consider how best to furnish their outdoor areas, the question of how best to furnish these areas becomes paramount. First-time shoppers may find the variety of materials, styles, and options confusing when purchasing outdoor furniture – it is important that all aspects are taken into consideration so your space serves you and is comfortable for you and your family to use.

One of the most overlooked considerations when purchasing outdoor furniture is comfort level. When selecting a chair, sofa, or chaise lounge it’s integral to keep in mind how often and for how long it will be used as well as its intended use within its chosen space – ordering something like an expansive sectional only to discover that once delivered it doesn’t fit will only lead to disappointment!

No matter if you want a space designed for formal entertaining or more relaxed gatherings, it’s also recommended to think through what activities will take place in your outdoor room (here are some tips: https://www.hgtv.com/outdoor-rooms).

If dining is on your agenda, choose a table which can comfortably seat all the guests you expect at one time – this will save you from awkwardly dragging kitchen chairs out into the yard during parties! For an elegant and luxurious appearance, synthetic resin wicker is your best bet, while more classic options like wrought iron, aluminum and teak offer more traditional designs.

THE LAST FRONTIER

As a general rule in dating and marriage selection, a glaring, unspoken age prejudice against women is accepted within all cultures. As men age, their pool of age choices for dating and marriage increases, while the pool of age choices for women decreases.

Worse, this age prejudice is to younger women’s detriment. By silently accepting it, younger women (who are among the older males’ growing available pool, as the males age), keep open the floodgates of discriminatory prejudice against themselves as they age, and (by saying nothing as if nothing is wrong with it) they teach young girls that this is perfectly normal.

For a man, there is no judgment for age, other than to be congratulated for marrying a younger woman. For example, when a man, of up to 90, marries a woman as much as 25 to 30 years younger than he, he’s considered a stud. True, too much of an age gap beyond 30 years and a man might be seen as an old fool (and the woman as a gold digger), but men still have a 30 year age pool within which to play.

Turn the tables and a woman’s pool is much more shallow. As women age, beyond 31, 10 years is generally the maximum age gap “allowed” without murmurs. Beyond that, and the woman is seen as an old fool and possibly a sexual predator if the man is below 21 (and the man as the possible gold digger or a child).

A man who marries a much younger woman (even as young as 18) of more than 10 years is seen as a success by others, but there are no congratulations at all for a woman who marries a younger man. Instead, more often than not, the woman is the subject of derision about being a cougar… and if she is over 21 and dates or marries a male of 18, outright disgust might be displayed.

Such prejudicial acceptance would never be tolerated today if the advantaged choices for men were made in any other possible category, such as race or religion. And just as race or religious prejudices might have been excusable 30 plus years ago, but are inexcusable today, this age prejudice is equally inexcusable presently and in our female children’s futures.

We’re in a modern age of hormones, which can do even more for women than any little blue pill can for men! Hormones for women, who choose those advances, can not only help them be sexually active, as well as emotionally and physically willing, for years longer than men of their same ages, but -moreover- such advances help women age slower and there’s nothing medically available for men that can do the same for them. That female medical advantage alone seems all the more reason for a woman to be able to choose a younger man without being labeled as a predator.

Now that medical advances have eliminated previously age-related problems, for women (that, before such medical advances might have given older men social permission to choose younger women), younger women have to huddle together with their older sisters and close the gender discrimination gates. Social prejudices need to be torn down so that the playing field is as equal for older women as it is for older men.

The bottom line is that one or all of the following needs to happen:

  1. Older men need to wake up to see what their outdated prejudices are doing to the self-esteem of older women by familiarizing themselves with the medical advances that have placed older women far ahead of them!
  2. Younger women need to understand what their complicity with this kind of outdated male prejudice is doing to their own futures as older women.
  3. Younger men need to wake up to see that older women are an emotionally and sexually lasting choice.
  4. Older women need to be vocal about gender prejudice and (just as advertising is changing for race and same gender couples) get a PR campaign started through writing, talk shows, and advertising—insisting that advertisers change their pitches to reflect the acceptance of older women and younger men as equally as older men and younger women are accepted. Just as changes came about, through good PR to bring about changes in prejudice racially, religiously, and for those who are non binary, the same can be done by older women to insure that their voices are heard monetarily.

Women (as usual) of all ages need to lead the charge for change, to stand up against this disgustingly disparaging, double standard. The public needs to be made aware that the older gander is alive, well, and ready to cook the goose, by “cancellation” of any who support these prejudicial actions, unless they get with the new program of gender equality in this last prejudicial frontier.

Dyeing Your Hair for the First Time

Dyeing Your Hair For The First Time – What You Need To Know

From subtle highlights to all-out transformation, color is certainly the most exciting hair trend to play around with. 90s chunky highlights, statement blonde, and “Rihanna Red” are some of the biggest hair color trends for 2023, Glamour reveals. Yet, for those with virgin hair — defined as hair that’s untouched, undamaged, and chemically unprocessed — you likely won’t have a clue what to expect when it comes to dyeing your hair for the first time. By taking time to read up on what you should know before visiting the salon, you can make the right dye decision for you.

Know what you do and don’t want

Maybe you’re lucky enough to already have a good idea of the color you want — in this case, it’s useful to bring an inspiration photo along to the salon with you to show the stylist. You can also look at their Instagram feed or portfolio for ideas. Keep in mind, colors can be subjective and open to individual interpretation. Vague terms like red or light brown may mean something completely different to the stylist — which means there’s a real possibility of ending up with a color you don’t want if you’re not specific enough. So, again, that’s why showing photos is so important here. Being able to provide the stylist with a clear visual can help them understand what exactly you want to achieve. It’ll make the process a lot quicker and smoother. And, rest assured, you can ask for input from the stylist and leave part of the decision up to them if you’re simply not sure what will look good.

However, just as it’s important to figure out what colors you do like, it’s equally important to figure out what colors you don’t like. So, even if you’re not sure what you want, definitely hone in what you don’t want. You can even show the stylist photos of colors you hate; this will give them a clear picture of what they need to steer clear of.

Choose a color that complements your complexion

Just like eye color, hair color is determined by genes. And, some of the genes associated with hair color also influence skin complexion, pigmentation, and freckles. If you have any complexion issues, dyeing your hair the right color can be an instant fix. So, it’s important to choose a color that compliments and uplifts your skin tone. Again, your stylist can advise you here, and help you make a decision that suits your complexion and features. For example, if you’re prone to blushing and flushing, lowlights in cooler shades like beige blonde and sandy brown can help minimize the redness. Alternatively, if you have a sallow complexion — one that’s typically green or yellow in color — you can add subtle, face-framing rose gold highlights. The rose gold works to offset the pale yellow tones in your skin. Think of it like blushing your hair, rather than your cheeks. It has a similar effect.

Be prepared for multiple appointments

You may need multiple appointments to achieve your desired color — particularly if you have naturally dark hair and want to go drastically lighter — which means you may have to spend more time at the salon than you initially realized. Big changes need to be made gradually so as not to damage the hair. Similarly, you’ll also have to take upkeep into account. Regular touch-ups can get expensive fast, so you’ll need to know this is something you can budget for. In fact, making a just slight change to your natural color is much easier and more affordable for dye-newbies to maintain. But, if you’re desperate for a total hair makeover, you can try something like balayage — subtle, natural-looking highlights. Balayage is easier to maintain than traditional hair coloring, and doesn’t require continual root touch-ups.

Dyeing your hair for the first time is a big step, and you may not know what you expect. By taking time to figure out what colors you do and don’t want, and preparing for multiple appointments, you’ll be able to make the process as smooth and successful as possible.

For the Birds

I put up what I thought was a lovely bird house, a scrumptious feeder and a luxurious water feature in my back yard. And now I’m patiently waiting for feathered friends, so that my bird brain will be entertained when I look through my window or sit outside.

Although at the entrance to the bird house I have a vacancy sign and another under it, advertising “Migrants Welcome”, the house has been vacant for month. Truth to tell, it’s never been occupied—sad. So many birds and so much competition for better locations and decor.

My daughter’s bird house has a wraparound deck and a back door and since we charge the same amount of rent (which amounts to letting us enjoy the show), why would I expect that they’d come to what amounts to a tenement in comparison to hers? To compete, I’ve called around to see about having a wraparound deck and back door built. But the cost would be sky high and since the sky (which is more competition) is free, why should I bother doing more than putting up a sign?

Speaking of signs, since I put two signs up, “Outdoor Seating” and (unlike now, in California), “Children Under Ten Welcome”, the bird feeder is doing a little better. But, then again, not much.

I dunno…maybe if I put up a sign saying, “Reservations Required”, the feeder would take on a more posh aura. But then I’d have to hire a hawk to guard the door and it’s hard enough getting help these days, without hawking for it. Groan…I know… that was a terrible pun but sometimes I can’t help myself.

A friend tells me that, by hoping to build an aviary subdivision, I need to be careful what I’m wishing for. She warned that with increased activity, I’ll have to put up with squawking at birdbrained counsel meetings, time collecting seed sized wasted taxes, and all other modes of frivolous, feathered fluff that come from bird brains in positions of power.

I guess I’ll just have to set up, and be in charge of, a waste treatment plant to keep good birds flying high over that kind of poop…or is that nincompoop…business?

Soul of Motown at the Westgate

Soul Of Motown, the show, is at the Westgate Resort & Casino, Las Vegas.

I went to a marvelous event there last night to see them. There were drinks and plenty of fantastic food before the show. The many servers were all dressed in tuxedos, so there was first-class guest services and you never had to wait for more food to appear.

The food and desserts were elegantly displayed and presented and it was fabulous, classy, and limitless. The cocktails and drinks were flowing—no one could ask for more and I opted for the margaritas.

The Soul Of Motown Show, is a toe tapping, sing-and-dance-along event that put us all in a great mood as half the crowd was up and dancing.

The extremely talented performers were faultless and extremely entertaining.

Whether you are young or old and whether you like Motown or love it, this is a “must see” show in Las Vegas. Valet parking is free.

In the current digital era, casual online dating has grown in prevalence and aided people to interact with one another. A basic comprehension is essential as more individuals utilize these websites.

If you want to be successful at casual internet dating, following some rules can be useful. Online contacts must be handled carefully and wisely given how much of our social interactions occur on screens. The following advice will be very helpful in avoiding any potential problems and increasing your chances of having a more successful and enjoyable online date.

Understanding Casual Online Dating

Casual online dating is quite easy to understand, especially if you understand how easy connections in the digital realm are easy to achieve. Everything reduces down to adopting a more relaxed and open-minded attitude. Understanding the distinction between casual courting and its more serious counterpart is critical. Unlike committed partnerships, casual dating flourishes on spontaneity and doesn’t require significant obligations. It’s analogous to saying that an everlasting voyage and a lifetime experience have a beginning. The intricacy of human behavior is shown by looking at the motivations motivating these sporadic online contacts.

The requirement for an emotional-free connection is a significant motivator. People want shared experiences in this digital age without the burden of expectations. Platforms like Ashley Madison, which cater to singles looking for relationships outside of marriage, come into play in this situation. Consider it a central location for the covert investigation of these linkages. “Is Ashley Madison worth it?” is a frequently asked topic. These platforms’ worth vary depending on individual viewpoints, which may change over time. You can better comprehend how services like Ashley Madison work and what they might provide by comparing your desires to those satisfied by those services. The objective is to find the optimum compromise between your search parameters and what the internet has to offer.

Your profile functions as the cornerstone of a satisfying experience. The sincerity of your profile is vital. Select photos that accurately depict your appearance and actual self. Additionally, your bio should be authentic. Give a brief description of your life and interests so that possible partners can comprehend your preferences.

Maintaining Regular Communication

The foundation of effective online partnerships is frank communication. When stating your objectives, be truthful and honest. This openness lessens miscommunication. While greater candor is important, it’s equally essential not to coerce individuals into disclosing more information than they feel comfortable doing.

Respecting Individual Limits

The foundation of internet courting is respect. Respect personal space and limits. Be aware of other people’s emotional and physical comfort zones. Both parties must respect boundaries. Everyone experiences a sense of value and recognition when respect is present.

Accepting Online Dates

Virtual meetings have become vital while casually dating online. You can try that too. It will help to keep the conversation flowing during these virtual encounters to allow the conversation to flow naturally and demonstrate sincere attention. Always recall that the key is approaching this adventure of online dating with an open mind and a real desire for lifelong relationships.

The Don’ts of Casual Online Dating

Making new connections may be a lot of enjoyable with casual online dating. But to genuinely enjoy this voyage, you must avoid several traps. The following are essential “don’ts” to remember:

Being Honest About Yourself

Share no fabricated information or out-of-date images. Sincerity is the cornerstone of meaningful interactions. Maintain your integrity in terms of your lifestyle and public image. Embracing your genuine self establishes the foundation for future compatibility.

Avoiding Hasty Commitments

Let your relationships develop naturally. A firmer foundation is created by giving growth time. Resist the impulse to enter exclusivity straight away. Make creating a comfortable environment a top priority to ensure everyone is at peace.

Recognizing Warning Signs

Be on the alert for any odd conduct from prospective partners. Being vigilant may help you see issues before they become significant ones. Never be hesitant to express your displeasure. To maintain a positive dynamic, it is essential to prevent misconceptions.

Conclusion

Online connections that last are built on compassion and consideration. The likelihood of engaging in fruitful talks in this online setting is considerably increased by respectful interactions with others. It’s vital to establish trust and strike the right balance between respect and focus. The golden rule is to treat individuals how you want to be treated. Genuine curiosity may be a huge deal when things are going well. Take time to understand one another; making bonds is not a race. Respect one another’s limits and practice tolerance. Always keep in mind that quality encounters always prevail. So, go for politeness above haste.
