The good news is that you don’t need expensive equipment or years of professional training to get started.

This comprehensive guide will walk you through the step-by-step process of creating videos, from conceptualization to final production, providing you with the knowledge and tools to bring your ideas to life. So, grab your camera or smartphone and embark on an exciting journey into video creation.

Why Do You Need a How-To Video

In today’s digital landscape, where information is readily accessible at our fingertips, how-to videos have become a go-to resource for individuals seeking guidance and practical knowledge. Whether you’re a business looking to engage your audience or someone passionate about sharing your expertise, creating how-to videos can offer many benefits. From establishing credibility to boosting engagement and expanding your reach, here are some key advantages of incorporating how-to videos into your content strategy.

  1. Demonstrates Expertise: Sharing your knowledge through how-to videos establishes you as an authority in your field. By showcasing your expertise and providing valuable insights, you can build trust and credibility among your viewers, positioning yourself or your brand as a go-to resource for information.
  2. Enhances User Engagement: How-to videos are highly engaging and visually appealing, capturing viewers’ attention more effectively than text-based content. By presenting information dynamically and interactively, you can captivate your audience, keeping them hooked and increasing their time spent engaging with your content.
  3. Simplifies Complex Concepts: Text alone can make some topics and processes difficult to understand. How-to videos offer a visual medium that simplifies complex concepts and makes them more accessible to a wider audience. By breaking down steps, demonstrating techniques, and providing visual examples, you can help viewers easily grasp challenging concepts.
  4. Boosts Retention and Recall: Research suggests that video content is more memorable than other media. How-to videos create a multisensory experience that combines visual and auditory elements to enhance information retention and recall. Viewers are likelier to remember and apply the knowledge they’ve gained from watching your videos.
  5. Expands Reach and Accessibility: How-to videos can be shared and distributed across various online platforms, such as YouTube, social media, and your website. This accessibility allows you to reach a broader audience and tap into new demographics. Optimizing your videos for search engines can increase your visibility and attract organic traffic.
  6. Fosters Connection and Engagement: Video content uniquely fosters a sense of connection and authenticity. You can establish a genuine connection with your viewers by showcasing your personality, enthusiasm, and passion through how-to videos, encouraging them to engage, comment, and share their experiences and insights.

In conclusion, creating how-to videos offers a range of benefits, including establishing expertise, enhancing user engagement, simplifying complex concepts, boosting retention and recall, expanding reach and accessibility, and fostering connection and engagement. By leveraging the power of video, you can effectively communicate your knowledge, connect with your audience, and make a lasting impact in your field.

Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander, M.D.

The mysterious phenomenon known as near-death experience, or NDE, has intrigued people for ages, and numerous works of nonfiction have explored the subject in depth. It has also showed up in works of fiction and film. That these experiences occur cannot be doubted. But are they indicators of a life after this life, or are they mere hallucinations or dreams that accompany the dying process and inevitably stop when that process is completed?

Eben Alexander, prior to his own NDE, had tended strongly toward the skeptical view. An experienced neurosurgeon, he believed that human consciousness ends with the death of the brain and body. But that belief underwent a drastic change.

Early one morning in 2008, he felt severe pains in his head and back. He supposed the strange affliction would pass but it only intensified and he began to have seizures. After being rushed to the hospital, a medical team discovered that Eben was suffering from E. coli meningitis. His chance of surviving was very slight and he remained in a coma for seven days. However, he did survive, and felt duty bound afterward to share with the world a message of hope inspired by his own near-death experiences.

Initially, those experiences were unpleasant. He felt reduced to worm-like proportions within a dim, mucky, and claustrophobic environment where his consciousness was drastically restricted. He had no recollection of his past, no sense of who he was or what he was. But at length liberation and tremendous expansion ensued. He was drawn into a vast realm of beauty, accompanied by an angelic being (later identified as the soul of a deceased sister). A wind which he describes as “literally divine” blew through this realm. He asked this manifestation of divinity various questions that were answered instantaneously.

The author stresses the indescribable nature of the entire experience and notes repeatedly its sheer clarity:

‘The place I went was real. Real in a way that makes the life we’re living here and now completely dreamlike by comparison. This doesn’t mean I don’t value the life I’m living now, however. In fact, I value it more than I ever did before.’

Not that my esteem for this book and its author is unqualified. Many of Eben Alexander’s opinions are arguable to say the least. For example, while he encourages prayer and meditation generally, he champions a specific form of meditation known as “Hemi-Sync.”  This method involves stereo sound waves that help inactivate ‘the filtering function of the physical brain’—which seems to me like spiritual quackery if it is not dangerous outright (like the deliberate pursuit of “out of body” experiences or playing with Ouija boards). It would have been nice if he specifically recommended traditional forms of prayer like the psalms or the rosary.

So while I recommend Proof of Heaven to readers who are intrigued by this topic, it would be wise to consider a wide range of near-death experiences rather than focus on this one alone.

Spiritual Cyphers: Hip Hop and the Church

First Installment of New Docuseries

To be featured at Dances with Films, the Defiantly Independent Film Festival,
from Actress/Dancer/Choreographer/First-Time Film Director Ariyan Johnson who shares her personal journey about the struggles and triumphs of her two conflicting loves: Hip Hop and the Church

Wednesday, June 28, 2023; 4:45 p.m.; TCL Chinese Theatres

Los Angeles, CA (June 1, 2023) — Actress, dancer, choreographer, and first-time documentary film director, Ariyan Johnson shares her personal journey about the struggles and triumphs of her two conflicting loves: Hip Hop and the Church in this first installment of her docuseries Spiritual Cyphers: Hip Hop and the Church, which will have its Los Angeles debut celebrating this year’s 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop during the Dances with Films, the defiantly independent film festival, at the TCL Chinese Theatres on June 28 at 4:45 p.m.

Unpacking the late 1980s-90s through research and interviews with pastors, historians, artists, and pioneering women hip-hop dance artists, the film explores the burgeoning industry of Hip Hop and its challenge for acceptance within the Church. Correlating elements where the Deejay is the Worship Leader; the Graffiti (the art and style) is Black Church aesthetics; the Emcee is the Preacher where the sermon becomes the dance; the B-Boy/B-Girl is the Liturgical Dance Ministry where the dance becomes the message; and Knowledge as the Word of God (Bible) is what unites a people as a community through culture. This first installment of Spiritual Cyphers: Hip Hop and the Church has a running time of 36:44.

Spiritual Cyphers: Hip Hop and the Church begins with Johnson’s research connecting Hip Hop culture, dance, and spirituality in the church, whereas subsequent documentaries in this series will focus on other untold stories of Spiritual Cyphers that interconnect with Hip Hop.

Johnson exclaims, “I am constantly engaged with innovative ways in developing platforms for storytelling and the intersection of Hip Hop and spirituality hasn’t been explored through a feminine dance lens until now. I am beyond excited about the fact that 2023 marks the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop and I get to share my story now.”

Dances with Films, LA’s defiantly indie festival, heads into its 26th year, championing the unflinching spirit at the very core of the independent film scene. While the vast majority of film fests rely heavily on celebrity, we have relied on the innovation, talent, creativity and sweat equity that revolutionized the entertainment industry. And that reliance continues to prove successful with alumni moving on to write, direct and produce celebrity-studded vehicles, star in blockbuster movies and television series, produce multimillion-dollar films and create hit TV shows. Oh…. and we even have several OSCAR® nominees… In a world of homogenized, formulaic film festivals, DWF continues to defy the rules.

Spiritual Cyphers: Hip Hop and the Church has and will be screened at the following film festivals:
– Emerging Lens Cultural Film Festival: April 2023

– International Christian Film Festival: May 2023 *Nominated for Most Creative

– Harlem International Film Festival: May 2023

– American Dance Festival’s Movies by Movers: May 2023

– Women of African Descent Film Festival: June 9/10, 2023 *Opens the Festival featuring a Reception and Special Screening and Panel Discussion

– Columbia Film Festival: June 20-24, 2023

– Dances with Films: June 22-July 2, 2023

Vicaria is a brilliant teenager who believes death is a disease that can be cured. After the brutal and sudden murder of her brother, she embarks on a dangerous journey to bring him back to life. Inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, “The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster” thematically challenges our ideas of life and death. Writer and director Bomani J. Story crafts a thrilling tale about a family that, despite the terrors of systemic pressure, will survive and be reborn again.

Personalized Father’s Day Gifts Dad Will Love

Special dads deserve a Father’s Day gift to make their entire year and show pride. However, getting a present for a father who has everything he needs and does not want anything can be challenging so a custom option can be a surprise he will not see coming. Keep reading for several personalized Father’s Day gifts your dad will love and cherish for many years.

Custom saying t-shirt

Almost every dad has some saying that gets talked and laughed about throughout the family. Anytime someone hears it, they automatically think of him. So consider this Father’s Day the perfect opportunity to customize a shirt, like the Bella + Canvas unisex raw seam crew pullover, with the saying you have heard so many times before. It is a fantastic way to honor your dad’s humor and/or his words of wisdom.

Childhood family photo painting

Many have a family photo that is a favorite from their childhood, which is so important to them and ingrained into their memory. If your dad has one of his own, consider taking that image and having it turned into a painting. Then, in contrast, choose a photo of you and your dad from early childhood.

Many artists do phenomenal work, and all they need is a high-quality image to go by. Before ordering the painting, make sure your dad has somewhere to put it, the sizing is appropriate, and the style suits his preferences. In addition, it is a good idea to get it framed, and just like with the painting, the frame should complement the space it will go in.

Remember that this Father’s Day gift is one of the more costly options on the list. The painting will take a lot of time and work to ensure a perfect finish, meaning the price will probably be higher. But, if it fits within your budget, you know your dad will love it, and the quality of the work is there, it can be a worthwhile present. However, considering it won’t be a quick project, order it before Father’s Day so the artist has enough time to finish it before the celebration without rushing.

Personalized baked goods

The dad with a sweet tooth may appreciate personalized baked goods for Father’s Day. Think about making them for him if you have some baking skills, and you can consider topping them off with customized options, such as a message or photo printed on an edible paper. Should you prefer to have the food done by a professional, many businesses offer the option of baking the products and customizing them with wording or an image.

As soon as you decide what baked goods you want to get your dad and the image or wording you want to use, place your order immediately if you are going to get it done by a professional so you can get your items by Father’s Day. Bakers tend to get incredibly busy closer to a holiday or celebration. In addition, many bakers allocate only certain products or slots within a particular time frame. Finally, remember to inform the business about any allergies your dad has.

Engraved leather wallet

Some fathers carry around their wallets until they fall apart and are practically in pieces. Suppose this sounds like your dad, an engraved leather wallet may be a great Father’s Day gift. High-quality wallets can last for years and stand up to heavy use.

Depending on the business you go to for the customization, some will do a simple engraving. In contrast, others might allow you to have the wording in your handwriting, adding a fantastic heartfelt flourish your dad will adore. Before you decide what message you want, ask the business how many characters or words they allow and if you need to buy the wallet from them or if you can supply a wallet for them to use.

As with many personalized products, this gift needs advanced ordering as early ahead of Father’s Day as possible. This advanced preparation is critical if you have to buy the wallet through them, so you can get the exact one you know your dad will want without resorting to a backup option.

Before you hand over what you wish the personalized message to say, write it out and let it sit for a few days, so you have time to make adjustments if you change your mind.

Custom labels with containers

Dads who are all about honing their cooking skills might love having custom labels done with complementary containers to put them on. For example, if your father makes his own barbecue sauce, tomato sauce, or spice rub mix, labels featuring his first name and the name of the unique concoction each container holds can be a great Father’s Day gift. However, make sure you choose containers ideal for the corresponding food product in terms of size and keeping the ingredients fresh.

Many places do custom labels professionally, or you can do them yourself. Include washing instructions with the gift so the labels will not get ruined. Often, containers with custom labels need hand washing to maintain the integrity of the wording as opposed to soaking in the sink or going in the dishwasher.

Personalized tool collection

Dads who are handy around the home may love to have a personalized tool collection for Father’s Day. For example, you can buy and put the wording on a hammer, wrench, level, or tape measure. Like with the wallet, as mentioned above, some businesses will do the service for you if you purchase the tools from them, while others may do it on the ones you bought elsewhere. In addition, check before ordering how long the gift will take so you can put the collection of tools together and prepare them in time for Father’s Day.

Even though Father’s Day this year is June 18, it is always early enough to start prepping your dad’s gift. Once you know what present is perfect for him and fits within your budget, place the order if you need to submit customizations so it can be ready in plenty of time.

Jason Chinnock CEO, Ducati North America “Brand Snobbery”

“Brand snobbery” certainly has been permeating our human nature for as long as I can remember.  If we are honest, we have all done it and we have all seen it done.

As humans, when we get our hands on something that beats all others in terms of engineering, design, performance and excellence, the temptation of pride is hard to resist. If that isn’t counteracted with a healthy dose of humility and wisdom, deceptive and pretentious “brand snobbery” is born within our mind. One only needs to go to any motorcycle brand dealership to witness that mentality.

When it comes to Ducati, you can witness the pride of their owners. You can also witness the envy of many. Heck, even other competing brands will compare themselves to Ducati as a reference point to benchmark themselves. When Ducati bikes show up and rev, heads turn—no question. I have a good friend of a mature age who at the mere sound of a Ducati or at the mere mention of the name Ducati, she goes back to a demeanor displaying the excitement of several 7-year-old children jumping up and down while all of us awkwardly look at each other unable to understand or relate to the depth of her excitement. One night, we saw her sitting and talking by herself to her boyfriend’s Ducati—literally! She is a living, breathing epitome of a pure “Ducatisti”. So much so her boyfriend is now wondering if she is with him for him or for the bike. As far as I remember, when I was a little boy, Ducati was an unattainable “holy grail” of sort which only a few fortunate could afford. Not any longer!

Jason Chinnock, CEO, Ducati North America is the antithesis of “brand snobbery”. I absolutely love this man’s story. His ascension from the trenches to the top corner office of this mega brand is inspiring to say the least. Not only this, but it goes to show if you put your mind to anything you can get it. It is a testament to the old saying of following your dreams is not a foolish thing. That even huge global corporations such as Ducati are still capable to see, recognize, and reward the potential and hard work of passionate individuals who bet on quality and merit more than entitlements.

Jason started as an apprentice in a small motorcycle repair shop in California. He then earned a degree in business administration and marketing and joined the sales team at Ducati North America. He became Vice President of Sales and Marketing followed by a promotion to CEO of Ducati North America in 2016. Jason was instrumental in launching the beloved Panigale V4 and the Ducati Diavel. Jason has been named an International Motorcycle Hall of Fame Legend. A strong voice for the motorcycle industry and a passionate defender of Ducati’s values, he has also been a contributing founder of MotoGP and World Superbike racing. Philanthropic organizations such as the “Ride to Give” program have also benefitted from the fruits of Jason’s passionate pursuits. Jason has been recognized by the Motorcycle Industry Council, the Motorcycle Hall of Fame, the National Motorcycle Dealers Association, and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. It has been said Ducati grew to become one of the most profitable and admired motorcycle manufacturers in the world because of Jason and his leadership.

Now hold on to your helmets! As if this was not enough, would you believe as a 13-year-old Jason went door to door in sales? Jason has held the position of Marketing General Manager for Lamborghini. This champion in a past life was a touring rock musician. He was a tank pilot during Desert Storm. Raised in a Christian based home, motorcycles were a forbidden thing. Today Jason and his dad enjoy riding together.

“It’s really not about bike building, it’s about connecting people.” Jason said in our one on one. This eligible bachelor visited Ducati’s manufacturing plant in year 2000 and that’s when he told himself, “This is where I belong!” With a top speed of 167mph under his belt, Jason proudly states how content he is today. His job constantly challenges him to be the best he can be. “Stay true to yourself in your pursuit of dreams. Bring people in who desire to be part of it all. Apply yourself. Balance passion with skills and do not choose the pursuit of money,” Jason says.

Now what? Well, Ducati has presented to the public eight new models that complete an ever-wider range, able to offer all Ducatisti the most suitable bike to express their passion for two wheels. Among the most awaited models, there are certainly the Multistrada V4 Rally, the motorcycle for long adventures and the new Diavel V4, the model that won the “Most Beautiful Bike of the Show” award at EICMA. Also, the second generation of Scrambler Ducati, (the conception for which Jason was deeply involved in) confirms the simplicity and authenticity that have always represented essential values for all Scrambler Ducati enthusiasts, becoming more contemporary, attainable, colorful, and endowed with an even more lively personality.

What is the equivalent to my bike? I asked Jason. “The Panigale V4S” he responded with confidence. I’ll be visiting the dealership in the near future “brand snobbery” or not, who cares? It’s the experience that matters.
