I Wonder
You are me & I am you,
What is it like to walk in your shoes?
You are YOU & I am ME.
I Wonder…
What makes this big ball
We call earth float in the sky?
Tilting on its axis as the years roll by.
The sun will rise and as it falls,
A crescent moon reflects on the walls.
Dancing shadows in the night,
Fade away at the first sign of light.
I Wonder…
What this is all about,
To be a witness of those who shout.
This is that, that is this.
We believe the words floating by,
Only to learn later, they were lies.
Mother, father, sister, brother;
Husband, wife, business, politics or some other.
We may not see eye to eye, but
That’s okay, because you may be surprised.
Twist and turns of the truth come your way,
Brings new information for another day.
Words may throw a punch landing
Me on my back,
Dazed and confused pushed off track.
In the darkest hour,
The toll bells ring
I rise to the challenge, my soul song sings.
I Wonder…
Why we must fight, in our heads or with a knife.
To be at peace is our destiny,
As a world and individually.
It only takes a fleeting thought,
To make a change that is not lost.
For love to override the hate,
We may have first out the gate.
Just as a horse runs with all his might,
To reach the finish line, a beautiful sight.
We too, as humans, are in a race,
Against time and the inner face.
For what seems like eternity,
The game is played formally.
I Wonder…
Why we strain and strife,
To find a smile and laughter so bright.
The stranger standing over there,
Stories untold, eyes avert when we stare.
Could there be a reason you are You and I am Me,
Looking, seeking to set ourselves free?
Or perhaps it is the lazy summer days,
Inviting us ever so gently to change our ways.
My time will come to take a last breath,
Leave this world to the next.
What have I left behind for the children to follow?
A trail of love and light or
A path that is hollow.
I Wonder…
What tomorrow will bring,
Today will be gone, no one knows where I have been.
Some days my head is in the clouds,
Looking down from the heavens, oh so very proud,
Of the transformations that occur daily
Coursing through the lost and weary.
Is there hope for humanity,
In all its splendor,
To right the wrongs, unity as a contender?
No matter who I am or your choice of living,
There’s no escaping the joint co-habiting.
I Wonder…
Can there be everlasting peace,
Where mind and heart finally meet?
So when I lay my head down for the final hour,
My spirit will know LOVE has become the power.
