The Señoras of Excellence Señores of Distinction 2020 Awards Gala
This will be an elegant evening of fine dining, libations and dancing to honor men and women who have contributed their time and effort for the betterment of our community benefiting the Latin Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund. I have attended this event for the last 8 years and it is a marvelous way to contribute to the community.
Friday, March 6, 2020, at 6:30 is the hosted cocktail reception followed by dinner, dancing, and of course awards presentation at the Westgate Las Vegas.

Sandy created the Señoras of Excellence/Señores of Distinction Awards Gala as a means to provide scholarships to deserving students in southern Nevada. The group is profoundly honored to continue her mission. Cocktails, dinner, and dancing will follow a fabulous live auction that happens every year.
The Señoras of Excellence and Señores of Distinction are men and women who support the educational growth of young Latinos in the Las Vegas community. The 2020 Awards Gala has the privilege of honoring the distinguished recipients for their dedication and contribution of time and effort for the betterment of the Las Vegas community.
The Foundation for Excellence and Distinction 501(c3) has helped many students make their college education a reality.
Along with the generous sponsorships of NV Energy, Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts International, Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, WGU Nevada and many additional corporate and community minded Las Vegans like yourself, we will be supporting the Latin Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Foundation in giving the gift of higher education to students seeking excellence in their own education.
Sandy Peltyn is the Founder of the Señoras of Excellence/Señores of Distinction Foundation with the sole purpose of raising funds to assist young talented students in reaching their dreams pursuing higher education. The SOE/SOD annual awards gala was her pride and her passion, its motto being “Education Matters”.
For her invaluable contributions to our community, Sandy received numerous awards throughout her careers including The College of Southern Nevada Woman of the Year, The Hispanic of the Year Award by the Latin Chamber of Commerce, Volunteer of the Year Award by the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and Woman of the Year Award by the Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow.
Sandy Colòn Peltyn, a lady of class, style, and grace and a most giving member of our community passed away in December 2018. Her memory will live on in our hearts and her legacy will continue to benefit the Sandy Peltyn Foundation of Excellence.
What it Means to be a Señoras of Excellence
A Señora is loyal to family and friends who expects no more from others than she’s willing to give; she is a woman who is confident in her beliefs, and yet is willing to listen to what others have to say.
A Señora is trustworthy, a confidante. A Señora lends a helping hand when you need her. She is your best friend, she is Love, she is Tenderness, and she is Courage.
A Señora gives the gifts of her thoughtfulness, shows her caring with good words of support and her understanding with a smile.
A Señora guides and inspires not by quoting other philosophers but by living her own good example; who accepts victories and disappointment with grace, who rises above life’s challenges and moves on.
What it Means to be a Señores of Distinction
A Señor is a man we admire, a man who raises our spirits and never lets us down.
A Señor climbs the ladder of success while consciously reaching out to bring others up with him. He knows that success is much sweeter and more meaningful when it is shared with others.
A Señor bases his life on principals, his willingness to sacrifice without expectations or Thanks. He sees success as achieving the goals he has set. He is a Son, a Brother, a Husband, a Father; strong, yet gentle.
The menu will start with butler passed appetizers during the auction. At dinner; crab & avocado salad, champagne and Thyme Granita, and a choice of petite filet mignon or boneless braised short ribs along with potato au gratin and asparagus. There will be a wide range of beautifully decorated desserts. All drinks are available with wine on every table.
