5 Detrimental D Words

words

The mind is a powerful thing. Your thought pattern will control the outcome of your life. I am amazed how people can talk themselves out of success before they even begin. I’ve seen people achieve success but the moment something may go wrong, they start thinking negative thoughts. And even worse than that, they start speaking negatively and kill any chance of success.

I’m involved in a men’s group in which we meet every Thursday morning. During this time, we have great fellowship, prayer time, and we study God‘s word. The studies we do are applicable to our daily lives, and each man will tell you that this is an absolute blessing for all of us to be there.

During one of our studies, there was a page that was talking about what the Devil’s plan is for our lives. Whether we realize it or not, the Devil does want to give us a plan and it’s not a good one.

There were five words and they all began with the letter D. As I read this, it made me think about how that applies in the business world also, no matter where you are when it comes to your faith.

As I talk about these five words, I would like for you to look inward and check what areas you need work on.

Doubt

What this does is make you question whether or not you are worthy of success. Doubt is a dream killer. When a person doubts, they look for reasons why things cannot be done.

Make the commitment to eliminate all doubt and decide to believe that you can have success. Believe in yourself. Believe in what you are doing and believe that you will have success.

Discouragement

When a person is discouraged, their focus is in the wrong place. They are discouraged because they are only focusing on their problems rather than a solution.

If you are in a stage where you are feeling discouraged, it’s time to change your focus. Focus on the positive. Focus on what you would like to accomplish. Instead of being discouraged, choose to be encouraged. That choice is completely up to you.

Diversion

When I think of diversion, I think of another D WORD- distraction. This makes the wrong things seem attractive so that you will want them more than the right things. It’s easy to get off our success course. There are so many distractions out there and if we are not careful, we can fall into some traps which will stop the positive momentum we have.

Choose to stay focused. Stay on your success plan and keep remembering why you are doing what you are doing. Don’t get distracted. Keep your positive momentum going.

Defeat

Failure is part of the success plan. We are going to have defeat in our lives. That does not mean we are permanently defeated. Take the failures that you may have had, learn from them, and turn them into success. In order to be successful, you have to fail. Embrace failure and understand that it is part of what helps you grow and succeed.

Delay

This is also known as procrastination. It makes you put off doing something so it never gets done. Many people fall into this trap of not deciding to do something until tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, or they wait for all the stars to line up perfectly in their lives. Unfortunately, they never get started with their success plan.

Make the decision to start right now, right where you are. Don’t look back. Do not delay. You do not want to be in a position 10 years from now filled with regret. Choose that now is the right time for you to have success. Today is your day.

I leave you with this verse today. Let this be the plan for your life. It comes from Jeremiah chapter 29, verse 11

“I know the plans that I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. It makes so much more sense to choose this way.”

Going forward, get rid of all these D words and exchange them for P words..POSITIVE.

Have a super fantastic week!
