How do you consider your approach to booking talent different from or better than those of your peers and direct competitors?

I consider myself a professional person with an understanding of how a businessperson should operate with respect, trust, ethics, and promptly. Over the years, I established a reputation with all the big talent agencies and managers handling big acts. My work ethic and experience guarantee a professional execution of booking and considering special requests to ensure the artist receives what they require to put on a powerful show. I strive to say that I work differently from some of my competitors; my clients trust me due to my work ethic, timely responses, leadership, and respectful attitude. All my clients are satisfied and consistently return.

You are based in Athens, Greece; do you provide access to talent worldwide, or do you mainly stick with the European and Middle East markets?

My clients are worldwide, and my reach is limitless. An excellent Rolodex gives me access to every need and desired request.

Your agency has worked with many high-profile talents. Who are one or two of your favorite performers you have worked with, and why?

I can’t praise one artist enough: Toni Braxton. She performed for one of my clients in Dubai in 2017, and she is my favorite entertainer. Working with Drake was a pleasure as I booked him to perform in Riyadh last year (2020), but unfortunately, the event was canceled at the last minute due to COVID-19.

What would you consider to be some of the main highlights or accomplishments in your career as a talent broker so far?

I established personal relationships over the years with all the talents, managers, and agencies worldwide. My professional attitude, kindness, respect, fast service, and ethical behavior all pay off in the end to establish my own “fame” as a broker!

As a female business owner, have you ever encountered challenges to your knowledge or skill by men in your industry? If so, how did you handle those situations?

I honestly can say with a big “No,” even though not many women in this part of the business do what I do. I have never encountered any challenges either in my country or abroad.

With the Covid lockdowns, the event industry was hit incredibly hard. What have you done over the last year to continue connecting with your performers, clients, and audience?

Like many of us in the business, I used the tools already available, the social media platforms. It allowed me to connect with my old clients and simultaneously develop new contacts and new clients. Unfortunately, most projects are still slowly progressing despite being out of the pandemic. But this will change in 2024, and I expect many exciting adventures to be produced.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Hoberman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, can you tell us more about your background and its role in shaping who you are today?

I am originally from Yonkers, New York. At the age of 16 1/2, when we moved to Florida, I had a grand mal seizure behind the wheel of my 1977 Mustang. I have not become the man I am in spite of my illness; instead, I have become the man that I am BECAUSE of my illness.

I gravitated towards teaching to improve the lives of young people both academically and beyond. That put me in a position to write my memoir, create 2 Talk shows, and present at schools and camps in front of thousands of students, parents, teachers, and more. Everything I do is based on the strength I learned from the experiences through my adversity. Even the two documentaries where I have been the Associate Producer (one on TUBI TV and the other on Amazon Prime, are steeped in some form of education.

Improving Health and Wellness and helping students, parents, and even teachers Reduce Stress is the pinwheel of what I do.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others.

As an educator and owner of Grade Success Education, my sixth sense of when students are struggling and suffering sets me apart from not all but many others. As a camp trainer, I have combined both school and camp training at the corporate level—for example, Anti-Bullying, Leadership Training, and other forms of Character Education workshops and seminars.

I have also learned from the more than 125 guests on my two shows, many of whom are celebrities from all walks of life. They have all had to overcome a variety of obstacles.

My brand is always based on learning and education, not just the academic part of education. It was NOT easy as marketing is a significant part of business success in today’s world, and that is not my biggest strength. Creating the right “Team” to help you move forward is integral to the process.

Are there any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what spots could they take them to?

I live in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania. Based on the time of the year, I would take them to a hockey game at the PPL Center in Allentown, many restaurants, the car museum, and then Jim Thorpe Village, some museums in Philadelphia; a mixture of activities is definitely what we all thrive on.

The Disgraceful Fall Out of Claudine Gay’s Self-Deception

It’s very sad that Claudine Gay can’t admit the real reasons she was booted from her $900,000 (plus goodies) plagiarized perch…in title only as she still gets to keep that salary and the goodies package, in exchange for teaching a few courses and flying under the radar about the money. It’s very surprising that, given her continued self-deception, donors aren’t calling for her compensation package to be drastically reduced (if not for her leaving entirely).

Gay’s insistence on seeing everything through a “racially animus” lens shows that she hasn’t ever been honest with her own shortcomings and (as a result), until she learns to come to grips with reality, she shouldn’t be allowed to stay on as part of the faculty at Harvard or at any other institution that claims to value honesty.

Given that many parts of her thesis were plagiarized too, I’m very surprised that she won’t be stripped of her PhD. Instead (having essentially stolen her doctorate title), she’ll still be allowed to hide behind her ridiculous racially animus reason for her forced resignation, by being allowed to teach courses in racial self-deception at an institution that continues to coddle anti semites and pro plagiarists.

Gay’s conveniently deceptive blindness is a prime example of what MLK would be ashamed of, as the same contributes to the kind of racial polarization he despised. Until the Claudine Gays of our country stop using race as an excuse, and decide that the lower standards of DEI should replace merit, until they allow MLK’s dream to become a reality, based upon the meritocratic opportunities that have been and continue to be given, we’re all going to continue to feel wounded. African Americans (and Haitians: Gay, Jamaicans: Kamala Harris, and Hawaiians: Obama, who are riding on African Americans’ coattails) will feel wounded for having to be judged completely on merit and the rest of us will feel wounded for having to make allowances for those who don’t want to be judged on merit.

To begin to heal let’s start with the same standards for all, with merit (not color) as the measure…to do less is to reward Claudine Gay, and all those who see merit based choices, rather than a free DEI ride, as racist, for their color and not their character.

We need only look at what happens when color rather than character is the measure: in Gay’s case, her lack of character (as shown by her shameful conduct and then, to add insult to injury, her lack of insight) has been severely weakened by having been allowed to rely on her color.

That state of affairs, turns MLK’s hopeful dream for a better world into a continuing nightmare.

Joseph Thomas Campos also known as “JT” Campos aka “Boaz Jimenez”, your favorite bad boy you love to hate from the hit Netflix series “Queen of the South”, was born on the road January 16, 1973. His feet never touched the ground in his birthplace, Winfield, Illinois.

JT Campos grew up in the Texas Rio Grand Valley, graduated from Mission High School in 1991, and received the key to the City of Mission Texas in 2022.

Campos started acting in high school, where he took part in many plays for his drama class. His desire to fulfill his dream of being an actor/stuntman brought him to Austin, Texas. In the early 2000s he landed his first gig that would change his life forever.

Joseph Thomas Campos was hired on as an extra in the movie “The Alamo”, where he played a soldier in the Mexican army. He later became a featured extra performing various stunts and was one of the Davey Crockett executioners. From television series to feature films, JT Campos has etched an undeniable mark in the industry and into the hearts of those he works with. His range of skills span from acting, voiceover, stunts, lighting, sound, writing, and editing. On set, he cares about keeping up positive morale and can quickly anticipate the needs of others after working with them for just a short time. Working with students through the Austin Film School and LUPE Arte, JT Campos demonstrated he is a natural teacher; especially to our next generation of brilliant hearts and minds. His creativity also extends into music and recently released the single, Juana Marijuana. He starred in a video with the late, very popular accordion player and vocalist, Aniceto Molina. He received The Merit Award for Best Supporting Actor at Indie Fest 2009 for the role of Benito in Guilty. He appeared in Prison Break as well as Dusk till Dawn (TV series). You can also see him perform in the ABC TV series, American Crime Law & Order Organized Crime Season 3.

As I spent time alone with Joseph, I quickly realized this self-made man is King of his life calling his shots as he desires. Joseph, a very charismatic human being has a lot to say, and rightfully so. He started at the bottom of the ladder. He earned his dues and lives his life each day as if it was his last — to the beat of his own drum. His greatest treasured accomplishment in life is his daughter “Chaya Amarize Marie Campos.” Through her, JT Campos sees his own flaws and vulnerabilities and is reminded of his strengths. She inspires him to become a true man and papa. “I don’t ever want to be back in a “Sancho mode”, Joseph tells me.

Joseph’s greatest influence was one of his high school teachers, Mrs. Imelda Chapa, who dared to believe in him and encouraged him to follow his dreams. Books such as “Mastery of Life: A Toltec Guide to Personal Freedom” by don Miguel Ruiz Jr and “48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene are two examples he gives from his library which he describes as worldly and eccentric. Continuously in creative mode, Joseph tells me “life and creation are beauty.” The fact we are all so different but really the same is beauty to him. “Pain can be a blessing.” In regard to religion and politics, Campos mischievously responds, “Ask me no questions and I will tell you no lies.”

“I want to live forever!” Joseph said. Creating his infinite legacy, he is currently working on an audiobook entitled, “There I Come”, bringing listeners through the journey of JT’s life.

Joseph Thomas Campos is preparing for his next cartel movie, “The Treacherous Border” a Lion and Tiger Entertainment and D111 Films production directed by Fernando SanMiguel. The movie will be filmed entirely in the Texas Rio Grand Valley, where JT Campos grew up. This story was inspired by the actual events of a single mother having to cross from Mexico into the US using a Coyote across the Rio Grande. This script has already won 29 awards worldwide. Confirmed actors include: Joseph Thomas Campos, Manelly Zepeda, 87eleven stunt team, Napoleon Rodriguez, Chris Seagler, Chris Todd and more.

Joseph tells me, “Please tell your readers to breathe and be patient with each other.” Joseph, who has rubbed shoulders with Billy Bob Thornton, has more passion than most mortals I’ve crossed paths with. I have since watched “Queen of the South” on a binge. I was glued to the screen. Joseph’s raw talent permeates the screen in the scenes he has been gifted with. His presence is undeniable. He possesses his character “Boaz Jimenez” masterfully.

Friendship with God via Boethius and Augustine

At the end of the 1977 movie called Oh, God!, John Denver’s character speaks to God (George Burns!) as they are about to part: “Sometimes, now and then, couldn’t we just talk?” God replies, “I tell you what. You talk, I’ll listen.” While I was never a big fan of this film, that particular message has stayed with me since I was a teenager. So in that regard, I am indebted to the movie called Oh, God!

A similar message is expressed by two figures from the ancient world, but at a more profound level. Boethius, who lived during the 400s and 500s A.D., wrote a book called The Consolation of Philosophy while awaiting execution for treason. St. Augustine, who lived during the 300s and 400s A.D., wrote a book called The Confessions. Both books were hugely influential during the centuries that followed, and they remain significant to the present day.

In the book by Boethius, the author engages in a discussion with Philosophy, personified as a woman:

“She was of awe-inspiring appearance, her eyes burning and keen beyond the usual power of men. She was so full of years that I could hardly think of her as of my own generation, and yet she possessed a vivid colour and undiminished vigour. It was difficult to be sure of her height, for sometimes she was of average human size, while at other times she seemed to touch the very sky with the top of her head…”

This woman has come to the author’s cell to rescue him from the depression into which he has sunk (a psychological consequence of his punishment and the loss of everything he has known and loved). The exchange begins as a spiritual healing but then advances to a lucid exploration of the basic problems of philosophy.

St. Augustine’s Confessions is more theological than philosophical. The author thinks back to the time of his childhood and ponders the course that his life followed afterward. It was a life steeped in various sins and errors, but one which eventually turned toward the religious faith that his mother, Monica, had instilled into him since childhood. But the key factor to bear in mind where Augustine’s book is concerned is that it is addressed directly to God:

“You are great, O Lord, and greatly to be praised … you have made us for yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.”

In terms of literary quality, both books have generally been regarded as masterpieces, but for me it’s their underlying message that counts most. Readers need not agree with all of the philosophical conclusions and opinions of Boethius; nor with the theological ones of Augustine. But there are certain important points which a wide variety of readers can take away from the two ancient authors: namely, the conviction that God not only exists but hears us when we speak to him; and that our questions and perplexities, our lives and deaths, matter to him.
